where do i buy a thick head gasket instead of 2 head gaskets

I did a lot of ground work on this..... but couldn't find what i wanted in th UK.



I found someone in the US who was willing to make a copper head gasket to my spec.. but it turned out to be a lot of hassle.. and not a lot of gain.

The guy that's helped me do my conversion is Strongly against me using two head gaskets. However I do know that the new PSA ones are supposed to be v good, What is your oppinion of using 2 gaskets Simo??

Like I said above... I wasnt keen at all, so I did a lot of looking around for alternatives.



But when I saw what the std gaskets were made out of, I wasnt too worried!! I'm currently using two of the thickest repair gaskets... three different thicknesses are available.



They are multi layered steel...

How thick would you need it? (in copper) Here in Colombia I can have it made easy and very cheap...

Off the top of my head I cant remember.... I did do the calculations, but that was over a year ago now... The car's run perfectly using 2 gaskets all year!



I also had a few problems trying to get somebody to supply wire rings.... and because of the cylinder pattern..... oh, it all just got a bit complicated.

the problem with using solid copper gaskets ,as i found (on a s/c bmw) is that if the engine uses strechtype head bolts ,as most engines do ,then you will not get enough clamping pressure on a copper gasket.the solution is to change to good quality studs and then use nuts on these,but on a saxo not needed . the availble sizes are 1.5mm ,1.7mm,2.00mm and 1.00mm.the correct solution is of course pistons ,not just for deck height but stength
