but will the picture still be good?

Clouds_mate 12th December 2007 09:38

you dont even have a console or input that suports 1080p

Robb 12th December 2007 09:40

haha dont i?

either way I want the option to have one.

Clouds_mate 12th December 2007 09:43

no you xbox console any runs up to 1080i, to get 1080p you need to run through an HDMI cable.

I agree, its a future proof purchase so you might aswell get one with the 1080p. But like you asked, you wont notice no different at all. (unless you run something over 1080p)

Robb 12th December 2007 09:48

put it this way, when you come down and stay you will be able to bring down your xbox elite and we can tear shit up in 1080p.

Naaa but as you say, i want to be futureproof. Ideally want to upgrade the xbox/ps3 in the new year. Am i right saying the ps3 and elite and 1080p yeh?

Karl 12th December 2007 09:50

All Xbox's released now are 1080P Robb. :)

even the xbox arcade (core) has HDMI now.

Clouds_mate 12th December 2007 09:53

yes robb, PS3 and xbox are now 1080p.

the one i had t'other week had an HDMI port, so was 1080p.

Robb 12th December 2007 09:55

HD-DVDs and blu-ray, are these in 1080p?

Karl 12th December 2007 09:57

if they are connected by HDMI most probably.

betty02 12th December 2007 10:01

May aswell buy a PS3 and use that as a blu-ray player, tis what ive done, and then if i do decide to play games its already there, blu-ray drives 9not writers) for PC's are no only £120 if that, so added one to HTPC soon i thinks!

Robb 12th December 2007 10:27

Can anyone confirm that they are 1080p?

The way I see it, I dont wanna be spending well over a grand on a TV that will have old technology in a year. Might aswell spend an extra few hundred on something that I will have at least 2 years and wont be an outdated outcast.

grantlowery 12th December 2007 10:33

Samsung or Sony Bravia FTW!

betty02 12th December 2007 10:36

good way of thinking really is the best thing to do, so if your planning on the future for 1080p, found this so the console actually is 1080p just no games released for it yet, so yeah it is 1080p, but as your planning ahead mayaswel get one for the future

about bluray players they are all 1080p and most can upscale standard DVD's to 1080p/1080i

Jacko 12th December 2007 10:54

you wont be able to tell the difference.

betty02 12th December 2007 10:58

http://blog.hometheatermag.com/geoff...061080iv1080p/

Tis a good little read! Theres actually no diffrence!

Robb 12th December 2007 12:59

good link that betty.

struggling to make sense of all of it but does make sense. alot of the user comments are sort of contradicting what he has said though.

if its true that the 1080i and 1080p are the same then this is the one for me:

betty02 12th December 2007 13:19

even if there not, your going to see no diffrence matey not going to sit there someone walk in and go way that looks like 1080p to me fella, cheaper one will be more then perfect HD runs on 1080i and 1080p so its still HD
