'throw you back' power

im ordering my cam hopefully this week for next week and was just wondering if im best going for the newman cam ph1 or ph3

i just want power thats going to throw you back when you put your foot down, kinda like more instant power

as some people know i got a raceland 4-2-1 manifold, supersprint race exhaust including race centre pipe and back box along with raceland induction + green filter

so to add to some 'throw back' power which would be better for this the ph1 with revs from 1500-5500 or the ph3 with revs from 3000-7000

bumpyyyy

AlexB 3rd November 2008 19:39

id go for the ph 3 mate
its a standard choice to get a good poke from you car
should see about 150 from it with a good map
that gives a good kick when you give it some foot down action

Rob-C 3rd November 2008 19:50

but wouldnt i need to be in a high rev to get a good kick from a ph3?

also 150bhp with a good map? you know its a vtr not a vts dont you? lol

150 from an 8v no way.

Low end grunt is what makes a car feel quick, if the power builds gradually like a tuned N/A car, then you don't notice it as much as stamping the throttle at 2k rpm and getting pushed into your seat...

Also... 150 bhp from a VTR with a cam? Really?

apologies i thought he had a vts
prolly about 120 ish from a vtr

tbh you spend more time around 3k whilst driving anyway so its a good cam the ph1 starts too low down the revs imo

Rob-C 3rd November 2008 19:52

so if i get a ph3 il put my foot down and when it hits 3k i will feel a slight increase in pulling power?

Ryan 3rd November 2008 19:53

1500-5500 id doubt will be much wilder than standard though tbh. so wouldnt give 'throw back power'

Rob-C 3rd November 2008 19:54

as i said mate, if i get a ph3 il put my foot down and when it hits 3k i will feel a slight increase in pulling power?

AlexB 3rd November 2008 19:55

youll feel a little kick as the car comes into the power like

Rob-C 3rd November 2008 20:04

are there any other mods that will help improve it? would tb's give it more kick?

bullit 3rd November 2008 20:10

your best charging it over bodies also as said you want ph3 or not worth it

Rob-C 3rd November 2008 20:12

just a quick question...

when i get my newman cam fitted do they fit the cam and time it up as standard timing untill i get it remapped?

wrighty89 3rd November 2008 20:15

if you can be bothered, soure a s2 rallye head, put a cat cam 645 in and you'll be getting close to mid 140's and the torque will be amazing, will give a good kick which is what you want.

Rob-C 3rd November 2008 20:22

anybody answer my above question?

Dasher_VTR 3rd November 2008 20:24

nitrous oxide?

Rob-C 3rd November 2008 20:32

that will be the last thing added if i add it, any ideas about the cam question 2 posts up?

they will time it for that cam and it will be tweeked when mapped

Rob-C 3rd November 2008 21:44
