Help needed nat settings again

Right well my nat are on moderate and its doing my head in as i cant join one of my mates games even though on moderate i should be able to his are on open btw.

I have a belkin combined wireless modem and router and im connected via an ethernet cable if i buy a netgear router can i just plug it into the belkin then just run my xbox through the netgear one or do i need a new router/modem.

Does anyone have the list of modems/routers that are approved by microsoft to work?

Please help me :)

BT Homehub. You could probably wangle a free one from BT.

If its usually open then just try restarting your router.

How is the router set up mate?

is DMz enabled.
Port forwaring enabled on ports like:
TCP 80
TCP 443
TCP/UPD 5223
UPD 3478
UPD 3479
UPD 3658

Is Upnp enabled on the router and the PS3

You may need to update the router firmware

Hope this helps mate

Just been on here :

And they are now open :):)

As stated before, having NAT set to moderate won't cause communication issues between other routers which share the same NAT value. You don't have to put your Xbox / PS3 in a DMZ, or forward any ports for gaming on the Net...

But i couldnt ever connect to aimees brothers one and his settings were on open?

Toad 28th April 2008 10:23

There had to be something else in the mix, as that defies logic.

I can connect with everyone else like karl pee etc but never him his were open mine moderate but mine are open now but havent tried it to see if it works

Sounds like it's not yours that's at fault then. The simple clue being that you didn't have issues with other routers, just this one in particular.

But he can connect to everyone elses but not mine lol
