Rally design coilovers

Ive got a set of rally design coilovers which consist of
- Pugsport GrpN Tarmac Dampers +
- 325lb 7" Main Spring +
- 40lb 4" Faulkner Helpers +
- Faulkner Spring Coupler +
- RallyDesign Coilover Convertion Kit +
- Compbrake Solid Top Mounts with 1 or 2 degree neg Camber

And I need to buy the c spanner to adjust them, been on the rally design website and they sell a 1.9" or a 2 1/4" spanner, I've had a search but can't find which size I need, was hoping some of you very knowledgeable people may be able to help
Cheers

Sound like this might be my old setup, have they got 3 blob welds on the threaded collars? Painted silver?

Its the 2 1/4 you need.

Yea they are your old set mate. And perfect cheers mate :y:

Anyone know what size I'd need to get for the collar on normal Billies. Don't want to damage them any more than they already are!

Bilstein make the damper, but not the threaded collar as far as im aware. The collar isnt like linked to the damper.

What springs are you using?

Alanapone 27th June 2012 19:20

I thought they were Bilstein ones to fit the larger piston diameter? I stand corrected then. it's for a set if B8's, I had to use the old hammer and centre punch to get them loose and I don't want to do anymore damage to the collar if I don't have to. failing that, Any idea who makes the collars and i'll get a spare set.

Mochachino 27th June 2012 19:58

Rally Design sell the threaded collars, theyre only something like £20 a pair irc.

This is the bit you want to find out what size it is right? To get the correct size spanner?

and you dont know what size springs you have?

Got any pics?

DOH!! Just realised your on about coilovers :-/

I was on about on the standard type. The collar at the top of the strut that holds the damper inside the strut. Please excuse my ignorance lol.

Mochachino 27th June 2012 20:46

Oh I get you now! I wondered why you were being so vague about it, but now I know which bit you mean haha

I had to do the same though, hammer and a punch to get them lose and then mole grips or plumbers plyers to turn them. I think you can get the correct tool though somewhere. Clean up the threads once you get them off with a wire brush and penetrative spray then probably put new ones on to prevent it happening again.

Alanapone 27th June 2012 21:15

Yeah sorry,

I did all that when i finally got the buggers off. I'll start a new thread later to see if anyone knows where to get them.

Use to be able to buy the tool from citroen but they don't stock them now so the only way is to smash tap them on and off with a blunt ended drift then just replace with new.

Euro car parts can supply you with new ones but they take 2 days as they have the larger hole as you stated.

Alanapone 27th June 2012 22:16

So their a standard item with a larger diameter hole?

Ideal.... I'll have a search from that end then :D

AlexB 7th July 2012 00:23

the bilstiens run a very different setup to the standard its a billet cnc machined piece with a seal not the cheapo stamped then threaded citroen piece

i know as i used to make them
the tool to get them on and off is silly expensive from bilstien but i have seen something in a machine mart catalouge i think ill have a browse one day and try and find it

all i ever do is a big pair of stilsons around it yes it marks it but its not doing damage if all your marking is the outside away from the damper

hammering a pinch in the groove next the the dampers sealing face is not a good idea if you mark that face itll damage the seal and they will end up leaking

+1 for the stilsons.
