Good thread mate :)

bluenotesmiley 29th June 2010 00:34

Depending on how far you are going to be stripping the car this could become a very good thread.

tommy_g666 29th June 2010 06:44

ooo ill be stripping it alot more. Ive still got the roof lining with the handles etc. The tar sound deadning on the footwells and the rear quarters. Strip all unnsessary wires and bolts. i will also be drilling holes in some panels (not structural) I will also be getting a fiberglass bonnet and boot so i will weigh the standard items aswell as the fiberglass ones for comparison. Once i get my polycarb windows i will also weigh the glass and the polycarbs aswell as striping all unessary parts in the doors. I will keep this updated.

Parts may weigh more if they are dirty/dusty!

tommy_g666 29th June 2010 09:16

Obviously everyones will be different by a couple of grams or so but it gives you a very close weight for the parts you strip.

stupotvtr 29th June 2010 11:13

Bad thing is you can't drive your car though as you don't have a steering wheel :panic:

tommy_g666 29th June 2010 11:14

lol i have a lighter smaller wheel on :p but i havnt taken that off to see the weight of it.

tom_wynne 29th June 2010 11:28

Wicked thread mate.

My vtr interior is stripped to the max. Only thing left to take out is the dash and fabricate some kind of sheet aluminium....

Very helpfull. Cheers

Paul 29th June 2010 11:42

You should put them into an excel document, once finished sort them so they go in order of heaviest first, to the lightest :y:

tommy_g666 29th June 2010 11:58

no worries, glad i could help. Ill put it into a exel sheet and update it.

tommy_g666 30th June 2010 10:08

Little update..

106 Gti front leather seats with subframes/sliders
Rear quarter (Stuck down) sound deadening
Roof lining setup (Sunroof version)

raunchz 30th June 2010 10:45

^ ^ I see no weights :P

The idea about putting it all into Excel is a great one.

Can then take the weight of the standard car, and work out a rough weight of your car with different parts stripped out.

tommy_g666 30th June 2010 11:23

The weights have been updated into the list at the top mate. Everytime i update it i will edit the first post and add them in there. :y:

The excel idea is great and as soon as i have time to do it i will upload one for everyone to use. ;)

raunchz 30th June 2010 11:44

Ah I see!!

Awesome!! Good work!! Excel spreadsheet should be good!

Paul 13th July 2010 21:06

Any more updates on this mate?

tommy_g666 14th July 2010 10:53

Not yet mate. I will have to do the exel spreadsheet at work because my comp dosent have it. im back to work next week so ill crack on with it then ;)

I got bored and sorted all of the above in to a spreadsheet but it wouldnt let me upload this as an excel spreadsheet so i have had to upload it as a pdf file.

If anyone want the excel file i still have and i can email it to you.

AlexB 14th July 2010 12:58

I should have done this with my diablo 106 and listed the chunks I angle ground off the car

tommy_g666 6th September 2010 13:05

Have some more weights....

Fog light = 531grams x2

The other weights i have were taken with scales that rounded the grams off to the nearest 0.010.

Pre tensioner = 1.010kg's
Heater motor = 1.450kg's
Dashboard metal support bars = 1.200kg's
Heater matrix air pipes = 600grams
Dashboard (bare) = 8.950kg's

I will edit the first post and add these to the list!
