I noticed on 106parts.com that you can buy just the ball joint?
How the feck do you get the old ones out without buggering the wishbone itself? Anyone actualy done it? Heres the link: http://www.106parts.com/s2/page1.php...4=20&part=2600 |

i think you may need to press them out not sure tho |
Arms are £60+ each from my motor factor.
Ball joints are £10each... saving £100, thats why i was interested. Im changing all the bushes on the arm, but the arm its self is nice and straight. Just want to fit a new ball joint to make it nice and tight again |
They need to be pressed out.
|
Ive seen them Knocked out with a Hammer before and it didnt do any damage to the arm either think they just pushed into place with great deal of force.

you need a big press a hammer wont budge them unless its a cheap ball joint put in wrong
i take mine to local machine shop he charges about £20 to press 2 old 1s out and new 1s in |
Then refit useing a new bolt and nyloc
i can supply uprated group n spec ones if required |

I just put them in a vice and belt them out with a hammer. Takes a while, but get there in the end.
To put them back in, I have a bit of steel and a giant socket that I can use in the vice, to press the new joint in. |
I was told that the ball joint could not be replaced on the vtr/s models t#@t i have bought quite a few wishbones just for the balljoints in the past with being told that i could not replace them!!!!!!!!

Just attempted to fit it but got defeated by the sound of thunder :wall: |
but the reason most arms are so expensive from motor factors are cause they are QH which are just over priced in my opinion, and delphi ones which are actually o/e specced ones, and delphi supply o/e ones to peugeot and citroen
but it depends on what you change as to which is cheaper, cause the new wishbone coulds still be the cheaper option |
Fitted my £36 wishbone last night, no problems and happy with it, my knocking stopped which is happy days.

Hey guys, I just bought a furio. It has an advisory on the lower suspension control arm. When cornering with power its knocks a bit like a duff drive shaft sound. I guess time for a whole new arm.
gdwelsh: How easy was it to fit a new one? any special tools needed etc? cheers |
