Front wheel bearing / hub question
OK so there is 2 sizes of wheel bearing
Tapered Inner Diameter = 37mm Outer Diameter = 72mm Height = 33 non tapered Inner Diameter = 34mm Outer Diameter = 72mm Height = 33 But am I right in thinking it's the hub that has the tapered part on? So to change from flat seated to tapered I would need a tapered hub and a tapered bearing? Or Is the taper part of the bearing? Any help is appreciated :y: |

its the inner race of the bearing thats tapered to accept one of the two different styles of drive shaft end
either this shaft with the chamfer or this with the radius |
You will know by the nut on the end of the shaft. Ive just ordered 2 and they nut on the ends the same size as whats on the car now.
2 sizes nuts so. bigger one, smaller nut I read Alex' post aswell thats how it helped me lol. |
I know what type of shaft's i have :y:
But to change a strut that uses a flat seated bearing / shaft to tapered then I need to fit a tapered hub with bearing to suit, the wheel bearing fit's between the hub/strut and isn't tapered - its the hub what's tapered :) |
.. doesnt matter - Alex explained :homme:
I was confused at what you were doing. |
Basically
If you have flat shafts you need flat hubs Which are where the taper/flats are Bearings for both are square But taper hubs are bigger so the bearing has a bigger i d to suit Youll need to swap both |
