A warning to sellers with paypal

Just incase you are unaware, if you sell an item and the buyer pays you with paypal and then collects the item from you, you will be unable to prove delivery and if the buyer then opens a dispute with paypal for non receipt they will refund them.
I know of at least 2 people in my area that have been caught by this so be careful who you deal with and how you trade.
a recent case someone wanted to buy something from me offered paypal then said they would collect i made them aware of my knowledge said I would only take paypal if it was a gift if they were collecting they sent payment as goods which I refunded instantly re iterated my point have not heard from them since draw your own conclusions.

So basically just as buyers need to protect themselves when using paypal so do sellers
if someone is collecting tell them to bring cash
if they are arranging their own carrier you need a receipt for it

to mods sorry if in wrong section feel free to move it

If they collect, get them to sign a note saying theyve recieved the item.. Even take a picture of them (incase they make up a signature to make it look fake)

If they arrange a courier get a signed note or copy of reciept from the courier, dont let the item leave without this

Good advice never thought of that situation :y:

getting them to sign wont cut it with paypal they need to see online proof of delivery
at that was told to me by paypal themselves

you see its not just buyers that can get scammed these days although its more likely to be a buyer sellers are at risk aswell

And what sort of online proof do they require?

if people collect stuff from me, it's cash only.

works out better in two ways:

- i can't get stung by paypal scams
- buyer can see the item for proof it's not faulty or whatever and so can't file a complaint.
