Locking threads...

When threads are locked, would it be possible for the locker to leave an explanation for why it was locked? or give a warning first? or somthing along those lines? Just noticed a few threads just appearing as locked with no explanation and a few I got confused as to why they were locked.

Probably just me being blonde, but thought it may make people think, on both sides.

If wanted I can find a few examples after dancing on ice results :)

xXx

ps. I need my spell check back sorry :(

yeh I know that was spam but I still think that a reason should be left I'll find others in a bit x

djrem 18th January 2009 21:51

Reasons help and give people an explaination so they know not to do it again.

But come on...Boob competitions ftw x

HollyAnne 18th January 2009 21:55

Rem said what I meant :)

djflipsaxo 19th January 2009 14:00

i dont even know why the thread was bought back up!
but I do agree, when threads are closed sometimes its clear why. examples:

http://www.saxperience.com/forum/sho...d.php?t=200380

http://www.saxperience.com/forum/sho...d.php?t=200106

http://www.saxperience.com/forum/sho...d.php?t=199450

but sometimes its not clear why and memebers need to be told why. (not that were retards) but i thought the modeling one shut down because the word penis come up?

Luke 19th January 2009 14:27

I do think a moderator should say why it's been locked. Even though I personally know why those 3 that djflip quoted were shut, but some others might hence the complaining you'll get.

Just my 2ps worth.

djflipsaxo 19th January 2009 15:11

thats what i meant, its clear why in them links, but others are not.

on the other hand a mod may end up having people arguing the toss to why the thread was locked. By this I mean, if a mod says 'this thread is now going to be locked becuse of blah blah blah', there will be people in that thread then argue with the decision

If they argue lock and a warning to people arguing :) its not hard to report the mod x

Sammy-Boy 23rd January 2009 22:01

Some mods do actually leave a reason why there being locked

VTEC-Saxo 23rd January 2009 22:30

Ryan 23rd January 2009 22:38

Paul 24th January 2009 00:21

666 24th January 2009 11:38

this one was locked, but other than a couple to txt words i dont realy get why

why????

Mark51 24th January 2009 12:34

^^ an early morning thread that was pointless, use of text talk and was just going to be an invitation for spam and abuse

Danr 24th January 2009 12:40

TBF, who cares if a mod shuts a thread. There's always a reason for it and the chances are some narky little fecker is always going to feel it was the wrong decision.

There's so many threads on here anyway to post in that it can't raelly matter that much?

Mods are mods for a reason. They are considered to have the judgement skills to know when a thread should be shut. They shouldn't have to give reasons etc.
