Does the saxo vtr 1.6i 2001 model have ABS?

I need to know if the saxo vtr 1.6i 2001 have ABS. I'm changing the drive shaft and I need to know which one to get.

stinkycheese 2nd February 2009 21:26

it was an optional extra

Liam_ 2nd February 2009 21:27

Unless it was an extra, no. I thought the shafts were the same as ABS is only a sensor connected to the strut?

dan-dan 2nd February 2009 21:31

abs shafts will have a pick up for the sensor none abs will not unless there all standard with the pick up on the shaft but i doubt it to keep costs down. either have a look for the sensor or just test the brakes down the road see what happens. there is other checks like look for the abs unit from the master cylinder down the lines.

Depends what you want from your car but I'd rather not have it tbh. Seems to be more of a hindrance for fast road/ track use.

It was only an optional extra. There are very few R's about which do. Only fitted as standard on the VTS.

You can have more fun in a car without abs;)

If so, when you turn the ignition on, you should see the ABS light - see the handbook if you don't know what that looks like. Failing that, if you lift the bonnet and look at the fluid reservoir - ABS should have the single port master cylinder... non-ABS will have 4 lines coming from it.

gaipai 3rd February 2009 12:50

mine has 4 lines coming out, thanks a lot for the advise mate.
