Even if that were the case 10-15 laps over the space of a few hours should not be enough to blow up a turbo on a brand new car. Besides that was over a month ago anyway so even if it was my car that was tracked (which it wasnt) why didn't it blow on track and not on the A11 doing 70mph

I honestly couldn't care, its just funny you trying to cover up you took your actual, physically owned car on a track. Maybe make a Youtube video to convince the nation?

Whose Polo was it?

Gandi699 12th July 2016 13:08

are you trying to get into reviewing cars on youtube? I saw your videos linked from that tattoo'd lad from the isle of wight who does a similar thing

It was 2015 model and loaned to me. However I'm not sure if it was strictly legit to take it on a track so don't want to get anyone in trouble lol

I wouldn't risk taking my own personal car for the reasons of what has just happened. Im sure VW will have checked my car for any evidence of that too.

I am looking to do some more youtube stuff yeah. Obviously it's all a learning curve and I'm just starting out literally with no clue what I'm doing. However I'm sure the videos will get better over time the more experience I get. At the moment it's just sort of a hobby however if I could end up doing something I like with cars as a living then that would be great! If not then it's not a big deal, it's not like I've set out to be or claiming to be the new Chris harris.

Jamie FYD...I like his videos a lot. Cool guy. Shows his age at times but in general a great channel to watch.

The one with the Rick Astley song at the start is just painful.

hard_corejoeboy 12th July 2016 14:38

That was kind of the point LOL

Jizanthapus 12th July 2016 15:14

No, I mean it was a poor attempt at humour.

Gandi699 12th July 2016 15:27

Jamie FYD - his videos are alright to watch but I do get that stancy/swag/camber/hipster vibe from him too in some some areas when it comes to the mods on some of the cars he reviews, but then again i'm not 20 years old any more so. He does seem to get a bit over excited with them.
I did find another few video logs the other day though which were an entertaining watch, a guy called Daniel Silvester who video logs about an integra dc2 build and a "dieselpumpuk" where a couple of chaps fit massive fuel pumps and turbos to 6 cylinder merc diesels taking them from circa 150~hp or so to outputs of 4/500bhp all using a completely standard engine.

Some people liked it, others didn't. I can live with that. It's life.

Yeah he doesn't seem to have any negative opinions on any of the car's he tests which I guess he feels he can't as im guessing they are all friends or friends of friends cars etc.

Daniels channel isn't too bad. The problem is a lot of his vlogs are really dull and dreary at times not helped by his thick Yorkshire accent. Crashed his Dc2 at the ring not so long ago.

Yeah saw that bit and the troubles he had getting home etc.

I don’t mean to sound like a dick, but what you’re saying doesn’t make sense. Why would you loan a 2015 model Polo GTi and then afterwards, claim that you want to upgrade your tyres and brakes because they were rubbish on the track? Are you saying that the loaned Polo had rubbish tyres and brakes? In which case, why are you bothered about upgrading your own if you’ll never use it on a track? Surely the standard brakes (assuming they’re 4-pots, I’ve not actually checked but my Cupra had 4-pots as standard so I imagine a 2016 Polo will too) and a set of decent tyres, like the ones you already have on, are good enough for the road? Or are you planning on purchasing these upgrades for the loaned Polo?

hard_corejoeboy 12th July 2016 17:18

I have access to an airfield which I won't be taking part in "motorsports activities" on and voiding my warranty. So it's partly for that and partly because no it doesn't have 4 pots and the standard tyres are not well known for being the best in the business.

The tyres wern't ideal also, they have suffered quite badly (standard Bridgestone potenzas) so yeah a bit of a mixed bag. […] Ideally I would like pads, fluid, lines, wheels, tyres and a bucket seat but we shall see how we go...

…Are all hypothetically speaking? And not something you’re actually considering for your own car so you can take it on a track or take part in "motorsports activities"?

hard_corejoeboy 12th July 2016 18:01

No. I've not looked for, bought or fitted nay of those parts listed. So yes they are all hypothetical "would like" parts.

You could still have tuition and change the tyres and brakes on your loaned Polo though? That wouldn’t void your warranty. Speaking of which, have you heard from VW yet?

hard_corejoeboy 12th July 2016 19:15

I don't have the loan car anymore.

Regarding my car yes it was a faulty turbo. New one won't arrive for another 7 days unfortunately :(

Which means I have an epically shite 1.0 Polo S for the next week or so! In grandad blue!

Dany4494 12th July 2016 19:21

You have a epicly shite gti and also a epicly shit 1.0 what's the issue here ?

You live in Yorkshire so your opinion is null and invalid.
