To blank or not to blank

Before I get my roll cage fitted I'm stripping as much out as possible. Now it's the dash's turn to be stripped. I have removed the passenger airbag, most of the sound deadening from behind the dash and now want to cut back on the heater pipe work to clear space for the front cage tubes.
Would you bother blanking off the air pipes running from the heater?
I have taken the side air adjusters out, but am not sure what to do about the plastic tunnelling that connected to them...

I think you'll find it's moulded to the dash. it doesn't unclip. The main "tube" that runs inside for the windscreen is one piece from what I can remember.

I'd blank them off to send all the air over the windscreen, that's all you need to clear as a minimum.

Ah ok, well I'm plannng on getting the dash out this weekend, so will see about hack sawing them off and blanking them off. Cheers!

Managed to get the side vent piping out today without removing the dash. It can be done - with brute force:boxing:

I'd be removing it all mate. Get it done properly.

I'd still take the dash out tbh. That sound deadening weighs quite a bit!

I have managed to get the majority of the sound deadening out, with probably just about a square foot behind the main console. Think I agree though, may see about getting the whole dash out and ditching all behind. Is it ok to ditch the heating completely and does anything need blocking off anywhere?

No, do not bypass the heater matrix and definitely do not block it off.

If anything, fit a micro matrix and a small fan with a piece of duct and a slot pointing at the windscreen. you'll need some kind of heat to demist.

Rainx anti fog won't work, before someone comes along and suggests that. :fcuk:

Exactly this, for how much weight you'll save other the practicality of demisting windscreen it's not worth doing.

I got rid of the standard matrix and replaced with a heater from T7 Design, Works perfectly for clearing the screen.

Mine has 4 outputs which I have 3 pointed at the screen and one at my feet to keep them toasty. I got the second smallest but you could definitely get away with using the smallest one they offer.

What did you do with the original heater matrix hoses?

I removed the standard matrix hoses and ran new hoses to a bulkhead fitting which are used for the new heater. I could have got away with using the standard hoses but I wanted to move the heater to the passenger side of firewall and it made it look much cleaner.

Very surprising how much heat the little thing kicks out.
