What the hell

Just getting quotes from Bell And Elephant, who are awesome insurers for guys going onto their own policies from the quotes ive been getting.

Anyway, ive been fiddling with the details, and if you state the car is garaged overnight its 60 quid more than if you say its parked in the street or on a drive. This makes no sense to me, any ideas?

frankie 2nd October 2007 23:17

more????

thats just speacial.

TU-Tuning 2nd October 2007 23:17

And its cheaper if you dont have an engine immobiliser...

willsy 2nd October 2007 23:18

Direct line charge more if you have locking wheel nuts. No idea where the logic in that is

frankie 2nd October 2007 23:19

Bit of a longshot... But becuase the chavvy bastards cant steal the alloys ( which arent themselves covered by the policy anyway), theyll just break into and steal the whole car? :panic:

frankie 2nd October 2007 23:22

that is a pretty good point.

but the garage one doesnt make any snese at all

TU-Tuning 2nd October 2007 23:24

Only longshot theory i can cook up for that one is that if its in a garage they might break into the garage and steal it cus theyve already done in the garage door.

But if they see a saxo in the streets theyll just laugh at it and carry on till they find a beemer

saxowebby 3rd October 2007 00:33

they also charge more if you have a big brake conversion. its because the see it like youve got bigger brakes because your going to be driving faster, just like the locking wheel nuts, they tink uve got them because your wheels are worth loads.

fookin stupid i know

Viper 3rd October 2007 02:27

what the fuck. thats utter bollocks

i say ring them and ask the fuckers

xcore 3rd October 2007 22:59

omg your right, just took off engine imobilser and put it on the street and it dropped nearly 100 quid! WTF

xcore 3rd October 2007 23:07

just dropped the market value by £1 (1000 to 999) and the priemum dropped by 50 quid:D

DavidKent 14th October 2007 13:40

Haha what a joke!
Bell and Elephant bring up good quotes, though they only count if you pay up front.
Got quoted £948 on my Furio a while back TPFT, But worked out at £1380 if i paid monthly!
