Dont know really, but my other half had this problem and hes with AOL, apparently they don't support wireless xbox live and had the DNS failure too. What internet provider you with? Other half is now switching to BT which should be better!

Maybe ring you're internet provider and ask for their DNS address and enter it manually then give it a go.. dont know really

I'm with NTL aswell, havent had any problems. Have you got the official microsoft adaptor? At first we did not get the microsoft wireless adaptor and had this problem. could be why.

DNS stands for Domain Name Server. Basically what it does is translate a website address into an IP Address. for example, when you go to www.google.co.uk, it doesnt look for that site. It looks for its IP Address. So a DNS server will translate this into the IP address so that the page can be displayed.

If you receive this error then It sounds like either the DNS isnt working, or it cant find a valid IP Address. You can flush your DNS records by doing the following:

Click Start, Run, type in cmd. now type:

ipconfig/flushdns

and press enter. This will flush any DNS records because the IP address may have changed for example. This should sort the issue hopefully.

you dont need an official microsoft adapter. my girlfriends step dad is using an apple wireless adapter to run laptops using windows XP and his MAC. They have virgin media and havent had any problems.
