Afternoon folks

So im thinking as an early xmas prezzy i might buy myself 360 eggbox's. I dont really play alot of computer games so im looking at the Arcade console.

Right well, the arcade console doesnt come with a (massively overpriced) HDD. But it is much cheaper & has a wireless controller so...

What is the HDD used for and what alternatives are availible to replace it?
Storing saved games i imagine is the HDDs main purpose? I wont be using it for music or movies etc as i have a dedicated server for that.

Iv also seen that you can buy some small storage based memory cards which presumably also store saved game?

A card reader can be plugged in aswell which would allow me to use some of the spare SD cards i have kicking about, but can you use the card reader to save games / saved games to?

My 2 ideal solutions are:
would i be able to use some space on my dedicated server to store saves etc from the xbox?

Can an SD card be used in conjunction with a card reader to replace the xbox HDD?

i can only help you with your first question.

I use my HDD to save my game progress on and downloaded demos. thats about it.

1.) Memory cards specific to the xbox are the only other thing used to store games.
2.) No.
3.) No.

4.) Get one with a HDD.

U sure about number 2 & 3 Karl? Damn microsoft making this awkward for me :err:

What size is you average saved game? :)

it depends Mystic, for example some of my games Saved files equal up to about 75mb.

Youd need a HDD in order to copy from to your Dedicated server.

+ Pretty sure about #3 too..

for the sake of a little bit more money Id rather just buy the Premium to save faffing around.

Yeh think your right, there are a few good bundles kicking around tinterweb for the Premium console.

Looking at that bundle on the game website which LukeVTR has just bought. Quite like the look of that Creed Assassins game! Will just need to buy Forza or something separately ;)
