Where to mount intake pipe?

Where have you lot put your ram pipes/trumpets that feed the air filter? I was thinking about cutting a hole in my dimma grill and having it there.

Dont really want to take out my fog light or anything...

Repped for pics/inspiration:y:

I personally would get a smaller numberplate, move it to one side and cut a hole in the bumper for it.

Coonper 3rd December 2007 13:11

Cheers mate! Liking that!:y:
Have some rep for your troubles!;)

Can i just ask, how does the trumpet stay in the mesh?? Is it just a push fit?

VTR_Craig 3rd December 2007 13:14

I rivetted it at the top and bottom

I have a cold air feed which is under the splitter... get a pic later for you...

is the pipe linked straight to that hole u made mate?
how do you lift bonnet up if so?
or is it just space for air to through the grill?

VTR_Craig 3rd December 2007 14:36

its fake mate - busted

I'm a style whore, so basically its a hole for the bonnet realese catch. Its now been removed

you could attatch a pipe to it though, may be a bit difficult to open the bonnet etc

Coonper 3rd December 2007 14:42

Ahh, shit! Lol
I got done!! It looks proper real mate! But as you said, you could easily attatch a pipe to it I suppose

KamRacing 3rd December 2007 14:43

would be a perfect location to mount it though. The best places are high pressure areas on the front of the car.

Bumper / Grill area is ideal

I'm planning on mounting mine instead of one of the inside lights of my morette's. I'd definately try and get it somewhere upfront, but up high so don't run the risk of sucking in a puddle, lol

evans1089 3rd December 2007 15:22

i was going to put mine in the bumper somwhere, my personal engineer said he'd do it but just lookin at different saxos places... id definatly want it somwhere with maximum air flow

davew 3rd December 2007 15:24

ive run the pipe from my bmc to the standard plastic pipe for the standard air box. seems to work pretty well for me a few others have done the same.

hope that helps
