bearing are fooked in the axel. ive got the same problem. supposedly cheaper getting a second hand axel than repairing it. but then you might run into the same problem on the second hand axel. common fault on citroen/pug so my mechanic told me
check the rear brakes, the slider that holds the rear brake pads in can work loose and fall out causing the pad to sit against the disc and make that noise, that's what happened to mine. The anti-roll bar end plate working loose usually makes a pinging metallic noise but is easily checked by taking the wheels off and tightening the 13mm bolt on the pear-shaped end plates.

its got drums on it and the axle was not long replaced so if its that again she will be pissed
ma moneys on the axel mate. at the moment mechanic said when he had it jacked up there`s alot off play. and the wheel is sitting a bit squint. eventually it will start clicking. sounds abit like your problem
is it clicking or a ping?
mmmm sounds like a click but its doing it when it constantly drives not when its turning or anything i dont think its the bearings as there is no play in it
any more help?
does it do it when driving along and then stop when you apply the brakes? if so this is happening to me at the moment and need to find the problem!
em yeah i think it does its my chicks car its happening to,its just doing it constant when drivin im not sure if its the anti roll bar plate thing or if its something to do with the drums maybe a spring im not sure
