Wireless locator?

Is there such a program that will map out where wireless routers are located and how far away they are in relation to where my laptop is?

e.g.

Thanks

cant you gauge from signal strength?

Suppose, but I like to be nosey. Just thought it would be a useful tool when trying to use unsecured connections.

you'd need at least three receivers to triangulate the actual position of the routers... even then you have problems with interference and signal strength which would give false results...

thats a guess though

I was thinking the program would go off signal strength and you could spin around on the spot so it would know in which direction the signal was coming from. It could ping and depending in milli seconds could calculate the distance.

i get you dude... you could get a distance for sure, but you've got other issues that will affect the given values (like lag between pings, say if the router is busy - btw i dont understand routers so im not sure if thats even possible)

spinning around wouldnt do anything to be honest... you'll never get true positioning 3D or 2D from a single receiver.
