195 tyres on a vtr 185 rim

is this ok to do?

so would it be possible to put 195/50/14 tyres on? or would not work and therefore get toyo proxes cf-1?

*EDIT* the question is actually will a 195 tyre fit a vtr 185 standard wheel?

LEE_VTR1 19th March 2008 17:31

i wouldnt have thought so seens as 1 is a 185/55/14 and the tyres you want to use are 195/55/15's

Mochachino 19th March 2008 17:34

i just wondered it after reading a thread from last year about it, but there wasnt really a definate answer to it!

il edit this post once i find it again.

heres another i jus found so i can actually find a 14" proxes t1-r again not a secured answer.

il find the one im onabout too

Aron 19th March 2008 17:50

you wouldnt be able to fit 15" tyres to 14" wheels are it wont seal

steve_335 19th March 2008 19:37

195/50/14's will go on a standard 14' vtr wheel, if you can find them, they re a very odd size. As long as thesize of the rim is the saame as tyre (14' tyre on a 14' rim, not 15' tyre on a 14' rim) it will go, you could almost have anything you wanted really.

niceone thanks for the answer, answers my question :)

Has anyone tried this? Will the 195 tyre over hang as its a 185 wheel? any pics if possible, and is it safe?

alextoffie 20th March 2008 01:28

You can fit a 195 tyre yes. I don't know if you could get away with 195/55/14 but its a lot easier to find than 50's.

no probs, there won't be a lot of difference sa the difference in width is only 10mm, they will probably look near enough the same

cheers, might get some proxes t1-r's in 195/55/14

195/55/14's will be fine, they will be 10mm wider and the sidewall will be a slight bit higher aswell, but there won't be a mega diffierence.

cheers mate, repped! Case closed :afro:

TypeRhys 20th March 2008 20:33

case not closed.

you can put 195/45/14's on vtr alloys.
nice low porfile, will look good and handle well if you go for some toyo T1R's

Mochachino 20th March 2008 20:39

really? i would have thought it would look daft such a low profile on a tiny wheel!

id need to have the car lowered to get away with it looks wise imo

Can someone do this please? i wanna see it before i do it.

well most of the 106 rallye owners run that size tyre on the rallye 14inch
steels, it is fine.
it also decreases the rolling radius, hence marginal better acceleration.
Less tyre wall means marginally better handling due to less flex in the tyre.

I just had some 195's fitted on a 6½" rim, and its JUST inside the arch.. the rim is about 1 mm from the back arm.. REALLY close.. the alloys have 15 in offset.. So i really depends on the offset of ur alloy/rim
