Microsoft Access

does anyone know how to use this?! i have to use it for an assignment i have due in tomorrow. this is what the task says :

Develop an Access Database to show how a computerised system can be used to maintain share price records. There should be at least a Database, a Data Entry Screen and a Report Screen to show the performance of individual shares

can anyone help me?! :panic:

The database itself is a piece of piss to make. Start off by creating a table.

Add the following fields in bold eg:

Index Value: 6,220.60
Trade Time: 4:35PM
Change: 15.90 (0.26%)
Prev Close: 6,204.70
Open: 6,204.70
Day's Range: 6,184.80 - 6,251.90

Thats for the ftse 100 today, do you need to do it for individual companies?

Once you have done that create a form. Then a report should have it done in around 30 mins

thanx ben, good to see people actually care about helping people on here

and yeah, im doing 2 specific companies, Apple and Microsoft.

ive made a pathetic attempt at making a database.

the main assignment was to watch 2 companies and collect data over a 20 day period and then assess the two companies and state which i thought was the best to invest in at that time (apple of course)

Your biggest problem right now is getting the info imo, Have you set the table up?

After doing that make a form using the wizard.

Reports are also easy to do, i cant really help much because i have access 2007 and its completely different.

Viper 12th May 2008 23:58

we have the new microsoft office at uni, its weird.. lol

ive got all the info for the share prices, i.e the ones over the 20 day period

i just didnt understand wat it meant by access database etc. but i THINK ive got it sorted now :)

djrem 13th May 2008 00:03

wow dude you get legend points for managing to finish a 20 day assignment in hours!

Viper 13th May 2008 00:29

well, all i did was go onto fool.com and grab the historical prices from there ;)

BenSilverSaxo 13th May 2008 22:10

How did it go?

Viper 14th May 2008 01:57

i got it done. thanx :y:

got it all handed in on time too :A:

however i was under my word count, which im sure they'll fuck me over for.
