Service Spanner

Hi all..

On my MK2 VTR when you turn the ignition on it tells you how many miles left until the next service..

Well..The other day is was saying 6k miles left, when i started it up a few hours later it went to 0 and the spanner came on?!

Anybody got any idea's?
