De-Cat Blowing, Any Suggestions?

Hi, I have just put a de-cat pipe on my vts today, i tightend up the clamps etc but it is still blowing, i dont want to weld it up foe M.O.T reasons, I was thinking about taking the de-cat off pasting the connections with exhaust putt then clamping it back on, has any one got any other suggestions?

any feedback would be appriciated

Thanks :y:

use some exhaust paste and tighten it up relly tight. dont worry if it smells a bit for the first few days its normal.

yer thts what most people have been saying thanks! am gonna giv it ago! just its a pain in the arse getting the jack under the car as it is so low! lol

yeah best bet is if you know someone with a garage just pop in and ask if you can use there ramps. only a 10 min job.
hope it goes alrite can be fu**ers to stop from blowing.

exhaust putty... lots and lots!
sometimes if ur still usin standard middle section they wont fit the same, and even with aftermarket exhaust it still wont be a perfect fit.

yer a thnk tht is the problem as i have a powerflow center section, am gonna drive my two front wheels onto bricks then slide the jack under! hopfully tht will work lol! just got loads of putty am gonna cake it in it tomorrow! how long do yous reccomned leaving it to dry before i drive again?

shouldnt need exhaust paste, new gaskets and tighten it up evenly.

as long as the faces are paralell it shouldn't leak.

paddy88 16th July 2008 19:53

yer thts the problem, with me having the powerflow centre section and backbox they dont fit together perfectly, i have a new gasket al just make sure tht is evanly tightend! thanks!
