Astra battery leak, terminal stuck.

4 Attachment(s)
I've just been working on my mums leaking battery to replace it with another.

I successfully removed this terminal:

One of the terminals was so bad that it got stuck to the battery itself and I cannot remove it at all.

And because this is the case the wiring snapped, due to corrosion!!!!

(the thickest wire on the right is the one that has snapped.)

What can i do? Is it going to involve solderring etc.?

All other batteries I've dealt with have been straight in straight out I've never had a wire snap due to corrosion.... :wall:

I'm going to pop out now and try to pick up another negative terminal. The motor factor by my house states that they should have the correct one, it just means cutting the wires, and I'm a bit cautious of that lol :homme:

Don't cut the wires! you should be able to prise the piece that's on the end of the wire open(from underneath) then slip it off the wiring. Then you should use a wire brush to clean the wire ends up and then refit the new terminal. Job done!!! Don't forget to vaseline up the terminals after fitting this will prevent corrosion and this happening again.

Put some hot water on the teminals to get that bracket off or wd40. when you put the new battery on smother it in vasaline or grease to stop it from drying out.

No need to worry, wire got cut, used a universal terminal, fitted everything up and it's all sorted now :y: Cheers for your help anyway lads.
