When it idles does the rev counter go up and down and nearly stall? Could be your coolant temp sensor or ICV. 2 is the same as 1 as it would cause over fueling.

3 is probably the belt is too tight.

If the belt is making the whistleing noise the belt is probs on too tight

Try cleaning the idle control valve to see if this changes things

i had the same problem mate with the idleing, thought it was the idle valve and it turned out to be a shitly fitted cam belt and blew my engine up. check that yours is lined up correctly

is there a guide or something for th idle control valve, for a`1.1.ive seen the vts idle guide cleaner and mines obviously different,il rep you's

i had a idle problem - i cleaned the idle control valve and no difference. turned out to be the lambda sensor in the manifold was faulty. causing the car to overfuel and cause to funny idle.
