306 gti-6??

i have seen a lot of these for upwards of £1500, do they have 160bhp standard? i might convert from my VTR if thats the case, they must be pretty quick, and i imagine it would be easier to tune a 2.0 engine?

Search engine should have a few threads about the GTi-6. A popular replacement for Saxos on here.

LeeM 20th December 2008 20:33

167 stnadard, pretty quick but not as fun as a saxo

MARTYN19588 21st December 2008 17:38

167 as standard. maybe not as fun as a saxo but certainly bigger

hes talking about converting a saxo with the engine though.

MARTYN19588 21st December 2008 17:54

dont no if a gti6 engine would actually fit in a saxo

it does, need custom mounts for it.

MARTYN19588 21st December 2008 18:04

thought it would have been to big

JamesR 21st December 2008 18:06

i was actually talking about selling my vtr for a gti-6, so with like a induction kit and exhaust sysytem it would be over 170bhp? in a hatchback that sounds very fast, i imagine its not that hard to get it to 200 bhp with the usual breathing mods and cams?

Ryan 21st December 2008 18:12

my apologies. converting from vtr and me feeling utter shit are not good for making sense lol

dannygti 21st December 2008 18:15

i would have to say the gti 6 is a better road car. its very underrated.
it is quite hard to achieve a genuine 200bhp as the stadard engine is quite potent fro factory. apparently changing the cams, filter, exhaust can get you around 190bhp. then you need standalone and tb's.

normal people dont realise, enthusiasts respect it. ive driven a gti 6 and spent rather a lot of time in one and they are a great road car even by todays hot hatch standards.:P

beat me to it lol is quite difficult to reach true 200bhp figure but its my goal in the future.

best to enjoy it in standard form for abit :y:

its an enjoyable car to drive

VtsTom 21st December 2008 20:47

Turning circle is shite! I mean utter shite! My dads got one for the work run and he enjoys it. Not as involved as he would like but he is comparing it to a 180bhp metro he also uses.

Wouldnt mind a late china blue one or a black rallye... yum

craigy_87 21st December 2008 20:52

lol its true its like turning an oil tanker

JamesR 21st December 2008 21:19

what about usual breathing mods, cams, and some head work and a remap? could that see 200bhp on one? there going for quite cheap everywhere i ahve looked, i think there superb for the price. VTRs and VTSs are rapid as it is, 190 sounds very very quick in such a light car.

craigy_87 21st December 2008 21:41

there are a couple with that sorta work with near enough 200bhp so i guess its possible with the right mods and a good map for the ECU
they are going cheap now but uv gotta think about servicing costs etc they need cambelts/tensioners/water pump changed quite often (every 30k-40k miles)
oh an they tend to drink the fuel lol

swampy 21st December 2008 21:50

Turning circle is only pants in one direction

all apart from the phs1 are a good 200kg heavier than a saxo.

beware of tapping from the head, means the cambelt has snapped in the past and not being properly repaired

expensive to get extra power from
