Electric Fire - Ftting?
 

Where does the heat go? im gessing it just goes staight out into the room that its in.
If it does can i block the chimeny with insulation?
what do you need to fit to?
do i just need a live and an earth?

any hlp would be apprciated

did it not come with instructions for fitting? or you thinking of getting one?

good good, ive got a gas one atm but we capped it off as we were told it wasnt safe to use as the chimeny flue wasnt large enough

Do you mean one of thoese "do you want another bar on?" electric fires, that come with a plug?

I got our gas fire taken out by a gas man, then me and my brother installed a plug socket inside the fire place (behind the electric fire), then drilled a hole from inside the fire place through the lefthand side of the chimney breast, then ran the lead from the rear of the electric socket through the chimney breast wall and put a fused switch on the outside of the chimney breast (round the lefthand side, hidden by the TV etc), so it can still be switched off totally.

U dont need a flume or anything like that mate if u go to a fireshop or similar they sell heat proofboards just block the chimney up with that ( to keep the draft out) and get a electrician to wire it into a fused switch or put a plug on the end :)

all electric fires we sell have plugs on but can be wired into a fused socket spur

most people get them for show cos they look good

ive just got one but its just one that sits on the floor not into the wall.... you dont need a chimney and as for the wiring mines just got a plug on the end lol

we dont have a chimeny breast but i know what you mean

i was just going to wire it to the electrics that are already there. they are currenty there for the ignition switch on the gas fire.
will this be OK or do i need a fuse in it?

the one we have atm looks ok but we dont use it as i got it capped off. would be nice to have another one that we can use and our only option is an electric one.

make sure you get the highest power output possible mark, 2kW = the heat output of w bars on one of the oldie electric fires

unless you run the wires to a fused socket, then no wires runnin about the room
