i listen to dnb and dance all the time and have a 10"

its more a misconception that 10"s can only produce a tight bass, and 12" boom

all depends on make and model

ive always been told that to within a certain extent that smaller diameter subs produce a tighter punchy bass and bigger diameter subs create a much deeper boomy bass? i listen to hip hop, rap, dnb and was advised to get a 12inch by loads of people. My mates 10inch sub cant handle some of the deep low bass in these genres nowhere near as well as mine! and there both very similar in spec and rms etc..

theres no replacement for displacement (bigger size = bigger bass)

thats just the general term though.. theres a LOT more too it than just that.. im pretty sure my soundstream t410 ran off my jbl.gto.1201.1 will hit a lot harder than my pioneer400wrms ran off my kenwood 2 channel amp. even though the pioneer is 2" bigger

box spec is a crucial factor too.. along with how the eq on the amp / HU is set up. or if you have a seperate paramatic equaliser within your system to adjust certain freqs

Chris_O 21st January 2009 20:53

fair play does it also matter about ported/sealed boxes as well? i was told my sealed box will produce a deeper bass than my mates ported?

Jimmy-Boy 21st January 2009 21:11
