red x suitable 4 a 03 vtr ?????

ive never used red x in my current vtr ive used it in many old cars from rovers to fords just wondering if its suitable for an o3 model vtr with th cat on th downpipe or will it do more damage than good i kno this is prob an old asked question just would like to be 100% b4 i put it in any info gratefully accepted...

Wont do any damage unless you use it regulary. Your better off using some Vpower in a tank as that has cleaning additives in and will help clear its throat.

If you over use it, aparently it corrodes the injectors or somthing.

i agree with db_sax use v power they do say its a waste of money better for turboed cars but it does have the cleaning addictives :D. i wudnt use red x my m8 used it and his car seemed no diffrent

I've used it once, didn't really notice much difference tbh. I wouldn't use it regulary though as said by dbsax.

i did used to use additives quite a lot, but i ended up wrecking the fuel filter for some reason, anyway the car wasnt running right so my advice is only to use it every 3-4 tanks of fuel.

chuckie01_4 21st January 2009 10:08

use the v-power fuel.

its surprising wot 2 ron difference can make on a 1.1

i used sum redx on the 1.1 and i didnt notice any differrence

Redex and all other fuel additives are pretty pointless mate.

As people have said just try some Super Unleaded or V Power.

You're not going to see major power differences because they are designed for much more powerful cars. But will clean some of the crap out the fuel system.

You should not put redex or similar products in more than 2 times a year.
