helppp

hi i have fly twin subs with a build in amp. ive fitted the wire to the battery, and the rca cables, and the earth. but im having trouble fitting the amp power lead from the amp to the head unit

i have a jvc head unit and theres no hole for an amp, and the only spare cables i have are blue with a white line, or brown. ive tried touching these wires with the amps power cable and nothing seems to be happening. the power light doesnt come on on the amp. any ideas whats wrong?

The power lead goes to battery, Put the blue wire to blue wire.

yeh the blue wire is the 1 i have
ive touched blue on blue and nothing works or lights up

i still have my front and rear speakers hooked up to my head unit

So you have put power cable to battery.
RCA from headunit to amp
and remote from amp to blue with white line.
and your earths where?

D8N_LL 29th January 2009 21:18

rca is from amp to head unit
power cable is from amp to battery
the earth is connected to a bare metal screw under my rear bench.

i just have the blue remote cable left. in my head unit there is a blue and white cable which i believe is the remote? but when i touch the amp remote cable and the HU remote cable together nothing happens?

ok, youre getting it wrong.

Your amp has 3 cables in (then RCAs as well)

1) Power should be direct to battery (normally red) thick cable

2) earth to a suitable point nearby (brown or black) thick cable

3) Then remote wire which is normally blue or blue with a white stripe from REM on your amp to the blue wire on your head unit.

Then plug your RCAs into the amp from the headunit and your speaker wires from the amp to the speakers and youre done.

Though the amp is directly connected to the battery it will not power on. Thats what the REM wire is for (remote) this only allows current to flow into the amp when the headunit is activated (or youre battery would go flat)

thanks mate, will give it a go in the morning
