Help with New Headunit

Hiya all, going to start looking for a new head unit for my car,
TBH i was looking for one with both an Ipod dock and phone in on it, but im not sure if there is one that will do both, the ipod addaptor is with alot of headunits nowdays i know that but the phone in isnot,

I was just wondering is anyone would recomend a good one with the ipod dock and if it has teh phone in its a bonus,

Cheers Joe,

Not really sure what to recomend as you havent supplied a budget but I think this will do the job:

The HU itself I havent actually had any experience with but I have a slightly earlier Pioneer HU and am more than happy with it.
Alpine are another good make but Im not too familier with their products.

I've owned a couple of pioneers and I'm currently using an alpine. I'd happily recommend either, depends how much you wanna spend?

I think some of the pioneers have bluetoth built in, whereas the alpines dont, youll need to buy the adaptor. You do get more pre-outs for the same money with the alpines tho.

It depends on what you wanna do, you gonna be running subs and components?

Both of these are about as good as most people need:

You'll need to buy a lead to your ipod whichever one you buy.

£ is a bit extreme! as you can buy the headunit for £180 haha!

ok ive found another two i like but im not sure as i belive tere both good, i do know that the second and more expensive one has for the 3 RCA outputs where as the other only has the two
These are the Two Pioneer DEH-P6000UB
Or
Pioneer DEHP7000UB
The second also has the remote with it as standard.

tuft 10th February 2009 19:31

I have the first 1 you posted, P6000UB and am very impressed with it. Not sure about the differance between the two. Had mine £110 delivered off ebay. :y:
Also if you mean the remote to control the HU I got that with mine but never use it, it's pointless in my opinion.

bluenotesmiley 10th February 2009 19:35

I have the DEH-P7000UB and I must say it is an amazing headunit. Even the SQ of the internal amp isn't too bad compared to most headunit run setups that I have heard. Really easy to navigate IPods and USB devices on the display as well.

tuft 10th February 2009 19:42

Ye that P6000UB is very easy to use. Got an 8GB USB plugged in to it so Im hapy with all my music in the car.

whats the difference between the two bluenotesmiley?

bluenotesmiley 10th February 2009 20:01

Not too much. Better display, another set of RCA outputs, high voltage RCA output and better equaliser functions. I can control the sub woofer levels directly from mine too, although I think the one you own might be able to do that.

They are both really good head units. I just wanted the additional connectivity and equaliser functions. I know mine can read up to 200GB USB data storage devices, although I hit the folder and file limit before I hit the storage limit. Still more then enough music for me though. The reason I have that much is that I use the portable hard drive for Uni too. Fits perfectly in the centre console bit by the gear-stick, no bigger then my wallet.

aaah cool guys im really temped by the 7000, but i think the 6000 will do what i want, as i dont have a sub, and im not really intending on having one haha.

Both have the Rear Aux i belive and Ipod connect (through the USB i think), only problem is i would prefer to buy from a shop for the warrenty haha, but i looked on teh internet and only place near me is halfords who sell the 7000, but i am swaying towards the 6000

cheers for all your help guys, it will be 2months befor getting it tho as that is when i get my work bonus :) cannot wait. so ill look nearer the time aswell as the prices may have dropped ect.
