5 Door Gold 1.1 / Alloys Fitted! /

Here is my 5 door 1.1 gold saxo. It’s a mark 2 from 2000 and has 76,000 miles.
Bought it after getting frustrated of not being able to find a small engined car which had to be 5 door Ended up buying this even tho I never intended on buying a saxo. Anyways bought it in May 2008 for £1300 with 12 month mot and 6 month tax and a jvc cd player. I guess I did over pay it was advertised at £1500 wish I had waited till the credit crunch hit cars lol.

Well the first thing I did was put on P plates lol family insisted, anyway car was bog standard for a while since I didn’t intend on doing much in the first place only a 1.1 afterall here is how it looked.

After discovering saxperience and seeing so many people doing things it just grew on me and I had to do some mods lol.

Plans

Things Done

Short Aerial
Sub / amps / Head unit
T cut badges
Xenon Bulbs
Flocked console
Speaker Pods
17cm speakers + pods
Sound deadening

Not Done

Alloys/Tyres
Dent repair on wing
New number plates
Smarten up engine bay (paints..:D)
Paint Calliper and drums black (better than rusty look)

Maybe doing in future

Tint Lights
Induction Kit
Lower 30mm

How it looks at the moment after a clean.

And a snow pic

ICE

Anyway got some ice sorted. Ended up changing amp and sub about 3 times first 2 times they were too low third was good but died (although I ended up not paying fully lol long story) anyways now settled on 2 Alpine amps and a SPL Dynamics sub the comps at the moment are FLI ones but planning on making door pods in summer and putting in 17cm SPL Dynamics comps 

Amps: Alpine MRP – 350, Alpine MRP-T130
Sub: SPL Dynamics V-300-D4 (wired to 2ohms 350rms)
Box: 35 litres sealed
Comps: SPL Dynamics 6.2

Next I wanted to add some sound deadening so bought this off CAD after reading good things:

Great stuff and easy to work with and has made a difference just need to deaden the boot floor and under rear seats now, think al just use something a bit cheaper but Second Skin is very worth the price! I don’t see it coming off in a hurry unlike the crappy stuff I had a bit of before.

Interior

It’s pretty much standard minus the Flocked centre console and tweeters. Had a moment of madness when I got the car tho lol

Before:

After:

Alloys

After looking for some good vtr alloys for ages but none being sold around me or they were damaged etcc… ended up looking on ebay ebay and found these for quite cheap got all 4 for £115 delivered! In two minds of if I should get new rubber for them or just use my current ones since there the same size. I guess it will depend on cash flow and if I get a job  been 4 years looking and no part time job!

Heres the alloys, simple but I like them wont stand out too much:

Maintenance

Got the cambelt and waterpump changed costed a fair bit since some other things needed doing at the time too. Also clutch will prob need changing soon too  saxo’s I guess typical lol but after it all I reckon should be a good few years of trouble free driving am planning on keeping saxo for another year or two if it lasts. Insurance has raped me tbh over £2000 on a 1.1 :S god damn area and drug dealers!

Broke at the mo so alloys prob wont be going on till I get next student payment.
Progress will be slow me thinks :D also need to get some decent pics when weathers a bit better!

Anyways that’s enough for now wrote this all in one go so sorry if I made some mistakes :P

Billy-Boy-Racer 2nd March 2009 16:05

Yeah sam as dan gonna keep an eye on this. Going to look good with the wheels on.

Sneakydevil89 2nd March 2009 17:23

like it, alloys staying silver or they going a different colour?

imydaking 5th March 2009 15:50

theyr gonna stay silver for now but am thinking white when i get more cash :D av decided to keep it instead of sell so hmmm expecting a new clutch and then alloys and then... smoked lights i think..:D

imydaking 5th March 2009 16:02

tiny update !

Smoked side repeaters on strangely kept the stock bulbs in there soo much brighter! hmm thinking it just might look like it does in my head once i get the calipers/drums painted in black too.

also led interior light. :S

also wired in some led strips to footwell (i know!) not connected yet made a mess of the button so waiting for another to arrive :D gonna get paid (loan lol) from uni soon alloys shud be on within a couple weeks i hope :D

Welcome to the flat arch crew fella!

You car looks like a good starting base. I would spray the alloys black instead of white mate. Smoked jewels on the rear, smoked headlights and fogs, lowered and then leave it. Will look mint ;)

PSPDan 7th March 2009 12:41

If you fancied a challenge I'd try and VT* kit it. I reckon 5 doors look really smart and different when VT kitted.

Sammy-Boy 7th March 2009 14:10

Got to say that five door VT looks mint! :P

imydaking 7th March 2009 14:36

lol i started a thread a while ago about vt kits and someone posted them pics. Looks really good i think will be a challenge though. am ognna be going down the smoked route hence the repeaters lol

the paintworks a bit shit in places got some laquer peeling went over with a aerosol laquer to stop it for now looks cack close up though lol may get it re done if i can no way am paying for a respray

thanks for the comments and good to be in the flat arch crew lol

wont be spraying the alloys black anytime soon tbh its just soo common around here, but in future it is tempting lol since most of the other bits will be black/dark

though im still a big fan of 3 doors... weld the rear doors and smooth them :y:

cmh369 7th March 2009 15:19

Not being funny but that would look crap. The front doors will look tiny, length wise and the windows would look stupid as they arent the same as a 3 door. Just my two pence.

lowering is the last thing on my mind tbh since i do carry people in the back often. al see how it looks with the alloys on first ;)

PSPDan 7th March 2009 18:11

I think it's good to have a 5 door mate as hardly anyone has them. So pretty much whatever you do to it it will still be "different"!

imydaking 12th March 2009 20:05

Tiny update again, finally wired the leds to a switch (was a bitch!)

anyway here they are, was suprised to see they were the chavvy audi style ones:homme:

al try and get some better pics, cams so shit in dark
