mounting amps

im doing a new boot build and was wondering which way to mount the amps
I.E upside down or normal, im cutting squares out for them if you know what i mean

McBain 20th February 2009 10:32

cutting squares out of what?

saxovtsmad 20th February 2009 10:39

out of the m d f

McBain 20th February 2009 10:42

Mount em flat on the floor then, normal way up. same with crossovers if you're putting them in the boot.

saxovtsmad 20th February 2009 10:45

im putting my cross overs in my door cards. the build im doing will have 2x 10" subs and 2 amps inits basically a box the full with of the boot with the subs sunk in

My4tt91 20th February 2009 10:56

might as well just stick them down normaly facing the right way!

McBain 20th February 2009 11:00

Well it dont really matter which way up the go tbh, just aim to have them where they can get some reasonable air if theyre putting out big power.
Try and keep em out of site of theives too.
Is your box gonna fill your boot?

saxovtsmad 20th February 2009 11:08

yes it is going to fill my boot im going to section the subs off like they are in there own boxes i am taking pics of a step by step will upload when its all done

McBain 20th February 2009 11:26

Sounds cool, try bolting them to the back of your box, like I say just try and keep the amps somewhere cool.

its best to have the amps flat, the correct way up due to the heat sink in them

Usually yes, but its more important to have some air circulating around them and not to have the heatsinks facing down.

DLS recommend mounting their amps (which i use) vertically or horizontally.

saxovtsmad 20th February 2009 15:59

which do you prefer im not sure

the bottom pic is inside the box and i would cut a section out the top so it can be seen im open to suggestions

will put up all pics taken once its finished

subs will be seperated like this

Shortman 20th February 2009 16:07

So the bottom picture is basically will have the subs on top but a cut-out to see the amp?

If so i would go for that.

Stickyjam 20th February 2009 17:05

so the bit the amps going in... is bigger than the box for the subs!?

saxovtsmad 20th February 2009 17:18

yes mate the amp is wider than the subs

well ive just adjusted the gap and it looks better now

McBain 20th February 2009 17:47

I'd sink it into the top like you say and put a clear plexi cover so you can see it, add some vents and maybe some fans if you got room.:y:

Shortman 20th February 2009 18:06

Looks good bottom picture now, Get the Subs flushed at the top leave the amp like that use plexi glass like above comment and you could maybe wack a neon in their if the amp doesnt light up. Will look nice

saxovtsmad 20th February 2009 18:44

just uploading latest pic and will post it then its party time hic hic

almost finished now will put a step by step guid up with all my pics neons included too
