installing 12v fans
hi ive customised the boot of my car however im required to install two 12v fans to cool the amplifier. could someone tell me where i wire the fans to. im wanting them to turn on when i start my ignition and switched off when i turn off my ignition. i dont want them on coinstant as this will flattern the battery.
bellow is a pic of the fans and all wiring to help you. could some one go through step by step (with pics if possible) on how to wire them up. thanks ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
cut the molex connector off so you have a red + black wire now if i remember correctly you can run it off the remote wire so it comes on with the amp. Pred will be able to tell you

you only need the red and the black wires that come from the fan. You can get rid of all the other wiring.

Red to remote 12v
Black to ground sorted :y: |
just connect them to your amp live and ground thats what id do with the red and black wires and turn ignition on se if they work then turn it off and see if they go off

if you want to go down the relay route a good bit is at the bottom of this page
http://www.caraudiobook.com/car_audi...components.htm if you dont know what your doing you may find it hard to wire it up that way. |
DO NOT, i repeat, DO NOT run fans off your remote cable!
This is not intended to run proper amperage! Most head untis have remote turn on systems rated at 0.3amps, which is enough to send a signal, but nowhere near enough to actually power something up! Granted it will work, but for how long im not sure. The head unit will blow up prematurely. Run them off the ignition live wire, which is the red one behind your head unit. This will enable the fans to turn on and off with the ignition. You could also put a switch in the live cable so you can turn them off when you want. But dont power the fans off the remote! |
hence the reason for a relay

Relay!
