Cant push the caliper piston back?!

Evenig, changing the discs and pads on my gf saxo 1.1 this evening. Got the car jacked up and on axle stands, took wheel off, removed the 2 torx bolts on the back of the caliper, etc but I couldnt prize the piston back? I then tried the other side and same problem just couldnt get it to push back? Is there a special way of doing it?

P.s its the front calipers

I done my mates last night. I just pulled out the two little bars and then pulled off the clip. Slotted the new pads in and built it back up again was really quite easy.

If there the same as the vtr/s calipers..

Then you have wind them back in..

Do the bars push out or pull out? the new pads and discs wouldnt fit on because I couldnt push the piston back. Do you know what I mean?

Have you taken the lid off the master cylinder?

We took the bolts out of the back of the caliper. Removed the front face of the caliper. Tried to punch the two pins out but thhey didnt move at all. I may have been going about this all wrong but the whole unit was just caked in crud! Then tried pushing the piston back but it didnt budge. The removed the clips and the brake disc (this was a task as it was stuck) Tried the pushing the piston back again but still no joy?

Am I doing something wrong? missing something?

thanks

The brake master cylinder.attachd to the servo.
You need to take the lid off it,notheing will push back with that in place

http://www.2carpros.com/how_to/how_t...ace_brakes.htm there you go mate all you need this is how i learnt many years ago

AlexGreen 31st March 2009 21:17

The bars just pulled out for me. Didn't need to take the whole caliper off just the front part and i had enough room between the disk and the piston to slid in the new pad. Put the bars back in with the clip and then put the outside pad on with the rest of the caliper and done it up. Job done.
