A trip back to October 07 now when i bought the car. Its a Phase 2 VTR in wicked red and had 50k on the clock.

Here is how she looked standard.

I started tinkering almost straight away with cosmetic things and had the rear windows tinted almost limo black and smoked the headlights.

For a long time i wanted to do a red and white theme so out came the rattle cans:P

Wizzy 11th April 2009 15:03

Calm down guys, im on it ;)

Ben 11th April 2009 15:04

Looks good but hurry up i wanna see more lol.

White VTR alloys, badges and interior were next on the cards. Spent the best part of a week locked away in the garage inhaling paint fumes

The results were worth it though imo

This is how it stayed for a rather long time due to lack of money. At the time though i liked it, but the wheels were a pain to keep clean.

Jump forward to may 08 now. Id landed myself a nice little job as a mechanic at a local garage, so with the money now flowing in it was time to crack on with the saxo!

Kam Racing supplied a 35mm apex kit :y: and a trip to the scrap yard threw up a magnex backbox for 20 quid!

As for the suspension the front was a doddle to fit but the rear took a few goes...

1st attempt :wall:

After a bit of trial and error i got it sitting how i liked it.

At the same time i fitted an OMP lower brace and painted the brake calipers blue.

Wizzy 11th April 2009 15:58

Next came a supersprint race centre section. This was a pain in the arse to fit to the backbox. I had to cut the centre pipe down and use a VAG exhaust clamp to hold the two bits together.

Its not pretty but it does the job well.

This made the car sound much better, but i found the backbox dulled alot of the volume.

I also got an e-tech upper strut brace and a raceland induction kit with green cotton filter

The raceland i was dissapointed with, it felt really cheap and nasty and the fake carbon effect was just hideous! Looking back i would of gone for a simota anyday.

liking this very much mate the red and white theme is top notch too,

keep up the good work

Ben 11th April 2009 16:05

Much better, looks good upto yet matey, like it a lot :y:

Wizzy 11th April 2009 16:21

I got tired of all the white bits never staying clean so a complete change was in order.

The vtr wheels went in favour of some standard colour vts wheels and all the white badges and interior parts were resprayed in black.

Looks much more subtle and a massive improvement on how it used to look imo.

Also invested in some door badges

I then went about getting the engine and running gear up to scratch.

This included-

Oil & Filter change
New Plugs
Coolant change, flush and new thermostat
Brake fluid change
New fuel filter
Cambelt, tensioner and water pump
Adjusted valve clearances
New clutch (noisey release bearing)
New gear linkage
New ARB droplinks
New pads and disks all round (stayed 247mm as i find these perfectly adequate for how i drive)

badasssaxo 11th April 2009 16:27

wow what a change i said i liked the white on red but i think this is better

Wizzy 11th April 2009 16:29

Cheers for the comments, more progress to come!

Danr 11th April 2009 16:30

I like the gloss black centre console. Might have to consider that on the 206.

Wizzy 11th April 2009 16:48

Next up was a set of powerflex bushes and goodrich braided hoses.

The bushes were a pain to fit, had to burn the old ones out and use an impact chisel to finish them off. The improvement in handling is massive, id reccomend them to anyone.

Hoses didnt make much difference though.

Lower arms-

ARB-

Hoses-

Ive not got round to fitting the rear beam bushes yet though..

Also sprayed the raceland induction kit to cover the chavvy carbon effect and tinted the fogs to match headlights.

Liam-westcoast 11th April 2009 17:04

you have done a really good job on it mate well done

si_pow 11th April 2009 17:04

Lookin' sweet mate. liking this alot :)

Wizzy 11th April 2009 17:07

To finish the exhaust -

Lovely piper 4-1 manifold i won on ebay for £160 :p

Heatwrapped next to standard manifold and cat.

Fitting....

DIY lambda sleeve made from old coolant hose and a jubilee clip - works perfectly

Polybushed the lower engine mount at the same time

I love the manifold, sounds awesome, nice and raspy and it pops too. Can deffinately feel the car pulls alot better now too, expecially higher in the rev range.

Wizzy 11th April 2009 17:27

Had a bit of a cleaning session. Not got many pics but got stuck in the wheel arches as they'd NEVER been cleaned before!

Before-

After-

Discraceful wheels!-

Clean bay-

That pretty much brings me up to date. Im sure there are things i have missed so will add them as and when i remember!

Future plans-

PH3 cam and remap
Some nice subtle recliner bucket seats and poss harnesses (unsure as not a fan of strippage)

Thats all for now, ideas and comments please!!
