when you do a drag race....

how long to you (realistically) slip the clutch for before it's fully engaged?

2 seconds maybe?

cheers,

not really that long. You want to engage as quickly as you can get away with then modulate the throttle to control wheelspin.

I need NUMMMMEBERSSSSSS!!! :P anything doesn't have to be particularly accurate :)

williamsvts 29th April 2009 08:56

about .6 seconds??
i hold the car on the line with the handbrake and have the clutch sliping then, trying to pull away f you know what i mean.
then when the light goes green let off the clutch.

Mochachino 29th April 2009 09:03

i always rev and blip the throttle rather than holding the revs at a set amount, so hardly anything at all.

less than a second anyway!

Dax24 29th April 2009 09:17

as agreed with KAM, i hold it slipping for less then a second and modulate the throttle to get rid of any wheel spin and traction loss.

wicked .6 seems to work well...

cheers man
I don't really do drag racing so wasn't entirely sure on how long the clutch was released over to be honest, but going over it in my head it seems about right :zainy:

thanks everyone as well.

2seconds hahaha im an eedjit.

KamRacing 29th April 2009 16:12

if its something you are seriously considering then get a limited slip diff as you will get off the line better :P

AdamW 29th April 2009 16:12

Slam it in reverse and run over a steward
