First Car! - Saxo 1.1 Desire Black
 

Im 17 and very gladly received a 1,1 Saxo desire as my first car. It is all standard at the minute, except for a new stereo headunit that came with the car. I'm Looking at you guys for a bit of guidance..



I want to sweeten her up a bit, but I'm not sure where to start.

Im insured with directline and I dont think they let you mod anything if your under 25, is this true or not?

If not I just want to:
1) Get a sub and two component door speakers. (Maybe disconnect the rear speakers or is it ok to leave them?)
2) Buy some second hand VTS/VTR alloys and strip them and paint them white
3) Get some smoked back lights and some new headlights (not sure which headlights).
4) Mesh the grill
5) Possibly look at lowering it by 30-40mm.

Do you reckon direct line might allow me to buy some alloy wheels for it considering they will only cost about £80 second hand? If not, reckon I could paint the steel wheels white or would it look tacky?

Best thing to do is just ring the insurance company up!

welcome to sax-p mate,,have a look at peoples threads and get ideas thas te best idea to do,,with the insurance,,just ring up and they will let you know,,if there is any movement in price it wont be alot,,ive just turned 18 and ive just put my alloys on bout 2 weeks ago and it does tranform the car but need to sort the insurance out and let them know,,ive done a few bits to it but like in your case it was standard and many more to come for sure..

My uncle could sand blast the steel wheels and powdercoat them if I cannot get insured with alloys.

Reckon I should powdercoat them white?

my 1.1 desire was ma 1st car n ive still got it its been 4years now n im still not bored of it and am always findin new stuff 2 do 2 it a little bit at a time :)
