VTR or a Starlet GT-Turbo???

should i chop my VTR 'standard' for a Stalet GT??

WestyVTR 27th July 2009 23:03

what do you want from a car???

Ashleyp 27th July 2009 23:05

if you can afford the insurance, then go for the starlet

make sure you buy a relaible model, most have been ragged, and turbo's are fooked

Are you talking Stalet turbo? If so there a interesting one. A long way off the best handling car in the world and as there a import insurance is a problem. In standard trim they are quite good fun and I quite like them as stock. There also quite easy to get good power out but then become a nightmare to drive. I was on York ring road at night when it was empty in one with a TD04 turbo fitted. The torque steer was that bad it was only just staying on the road using both lanes and the bard shoulder. I was not even speeding, I would hate to go fast in one. It did nothing till about 5k and then just span its wheels and through the card sideways. Not that fast and not that nice to drive :S All in all not a car I would recommend.

I have both..

Would choose my starlet gt turbo any day over my vtr if I could only have one.

What was the spec of the one you drove axracing?

starlet turbos are fun and quick as but its got a turbo and they go bang if you have to much fun.

Vtrs i like them... fun car.

AXracing 28th July 2009 08:27

I don't know exactly but it had a custom tubular exhaust manifold a turbo that came off a evo fq but forget what one, huge intercooler programmable ECU bigger injectors and a really heavy clutch. Its was a friends car that he had quite a few years ago now. I do like the things its just that one was way over the top and the little car could just not take it.

Was just wondering on the chassis setup like, as there are a few things that help make it less savage like an anti lift kits, lsd's etc etc

i got a vtr and a glanza turbo, i have had a gt turbo and i loved it very fast and fun to drive big step up from a vtr so go for it

adzvtr 28th July 2009 16:01

i had a vtr first car, pretty quick and in th twistys was very capable,
after that i got a glanza turbo, was a very quick car for what it was, but as said very unstable in the twistys, scary in a way.
now have a vts, an preffer the feel of a saxo,
best way would be to try before you make the decission m8
