laptop fault

Hi everyone,

hope i have posted in the right place

basically my laptop isnt starting up today and keeps restarting itself but comes up with a message saying it had to protect my files so i might have shut off the laptop and now seems to be a software fault so any chance i can get this up and running like before?

right... after the boot screen but before the windows loading screen... keep pressing F8... then select safe mode, do a quick virus scan in safe mode if possible... then restart and try again in normal mode...

if not post here... ill help out with other methods :D

if all else fails. download a ubuntu live CD and you should be able to start up from that. also you should be able to access your hard drive contants.

sound like a backdoor w32 worm i had similar symptoms before .. kept restarting,, its a pain..

how far does it get before it restarts? you could try disabling automatic restart.... on the F8 menu... it would then usally display an error message rather than just restartin....
