748's Cam'd + NOS'd Silver MK2 VTR (PIC HEAVY)

Bout time i did a little 'profile' of my car.

Ive owned this car since nearly new (So 8 years !),and spent a load of money on the engine at first and i was one of the first to put a WON Nitrous kit on a Paxo i believe. And touch wood: its been utterly reliable despite regular thrashings, various Santa Pod days etc etc

BOTTLE:

RED BUTTON:

CONTROLLER:

Up-until a month ago it was completely bog standard on the outside, the only subtle visual's being a 4" magnex pipe out the back and sitting slightly lower (35 or 40mm i think ?)

SIDE SHOT:

REAR SHOT:

The engine bay had a little 'bling' to it with a few shiny bits and fuel pressure guages etc,so important for running Nitrous.

NOW ONTO MODERN TIMES:

The wife has been using the car for 5 years or so,but the kids are getting bigger and ive not got a company van right now. So,got her a Mondeo and the Saxo is back in my hands as a work car / weekend toy !

So,first off it was due for an MOT at the beginning of this month. In amongst this ive also fitted brand new:

A Pair of drive shafts.
All new poly bushes upfront
Pair of front droplinks.
Pug-Sport gearlinkages.
Track-Rod ends.
And had 4 wheel alignment / tracking done.

I then thought id better get it further into shape by getting into the present and treating the old girl to some new rims.So after al ittle searching i decided on some Team Dynamics Pro Race 2's:

RIMS:

AND AGAIN !

And once on the black theme i decided to sort out the rear badges:

And i may be wrong, but as much as the car has been looked after and cleaned, and has wanted for nothing mechanically - im afraid to say i dont think ive EVER polished it in the 8 years ive owned it !!!!! So today was a mammoth 7 hour polishing session on the wheels and bodywork:

REAR:

SIDE:

I also too k the opportunity today to paint the wiper blade arms - something thats been bugging me for a while but i aint gotten round to doing ! So after removing,i rubbed them down and applied 3 coats of satin black paint. VOILA !

WIPERS:

So thats up-to today. But where next..........

Well first is the bonnet - paint is cracked like a good-un after a poor spray job years ago,and its booked in to be sprayed satin black (Same colour as car below) on the 7th and 8th Oct:

SATIN BONNET:

MOCK UP OF BLACK BONNET ON MY CAR:

Headlights are then going to stand out,so i guess im going to have to purchase some black ones  to continue the theme......

Im also currently having my rocker cover resprayed yellow as its starting to bubble slightll, and am having my strut-brace painted to match.Pics will follow of newly blinged / cleaned / fettled under-bonnet area !

After that im not sure - im craving more power more than anything. The car when last rolling roaded it was 135+BHP and ran a 14.2@98 at Santa Pod on a 50 shot of gas (Which ran pretty poorly on the day - but enough to match my friends 3.8 ltr BMW M5 !).It should be able to run and handle 100HP shot of NOS now with some uprated electrics and massive battery to try to stop the current draw problems i was suffering with, and is also now running an ignition retard module for when its running gas.HOPEFULLY this should be enough to get into the 13's perhaps,and/or make the 100MPH barrier IF it all comes together on the day !

But,thats ok for the strip - need some more road power.TB's,S/C or more realistically a low boost Turbo set-up loom large hopefully.......

No,138 was RR'd without NOS (Was in my early days of gas.Went to run it after running with no gas,but had a couple of problems and by the time it was sorted,it then ran out of gas on the 4th gear power run :homme:)

Its running:

Superspint manifold
Magnex full system
Ported / polished throttle body
Piper Cam
Ported and polished head
Induction kit (Many cold air feeds !)
4.5 bar FPR
Dastek piggyback ECU

bloody hell, i wasnt expecting 138bhp without nos. What a weapon, bet it flys!!

Eaten any clutches or box's yet? :)

Been RR'd at two places for that figure - was a while ago though. Will be getting it checked out and re-set-up if necassary very soon though once im happy the way the NOS system is all going.

I THOUGHT gearbox was on the way out.....1st to 2nd used to really clunk and it was pretty sloppy. But after fresh oil and the Pug-Sport linkages, new fork selector pin it now seems spot on thankfully.

It does get a 'beating' every now and again but generally i poodle about and am pretty mechanically sypathetic being an engineer by trade. Clutch is uprated organic.

And cheers for the comments guys, appreciated ;)

Well, bonnet is being stripped and re-painted satin black on October 7th + 8th..... which im really looking forward too (Even if alot here think its old hat / poor-mans carbon / look of a crash repaired motor etc etc).

Then im having a bit of a service/engine check over, and rather than having it rolling roaded as i said earlier,im having it live-mapped by the local 'wizard'.Its not about meaningless numbers and torque figures to some degree - its about real-world driving. And he tells me as much as you can sometimes get close on the rollers - nothing beats it being mapped under real conditions. He also said hes mapped a few cars on the rollers and seemingly had 'great' results only for them to perform badly on the road.So if at all possible and if the customer can afford - he prefers to do live-mapping.

This is the place if anyones interested:
