My tax has run out, quick question

my tax runs out well today... I have not yet renewed my tax, how many days grace do the dvla currently give??

TU-Tuning 30th September 2009 22:17

7 days I think

swampy 30th September 2009 22:30

Its a myth you get zero days!
Get it taxd or park it off the road until it is

TU-Tuning 30th September 2009 22:38

You get 7 days to say that your new ones on the way to allow for DVLA/Postage delays.

Did ya get my PM dude?

swampy 30th September 2009 22:40

No you dont.
With it all being done on computer they can tell/be told if you have applied
even if you have then can do you for failing to display

TU-Tuning 30th September 2009 22:42

Ah right, my bad misread I thought hed ordered it tonight.

Im guessing you didnt get my PM then or are you just being a cunt and ignoring everyone

shinner_vtr 30th September 2009 22:49

you dont get any time mate, they send you the slip a month before its due and this is seen as enough time to sort it out

swampy 30th September 2009 23:01

I see a fair few cars parked around (and alot of motorbikes) whose tax ran out months and months ago.
Saying that, I saw a Rozzer plonking a fixed penalty notice on a Peugeot 205 in Morrisons car park last week, so they are out there!

TU-Tuning 30th September 2009 23:04

I did and you didnt respond. Or to my message above. Should have just explained in the first place dude, either way you could have responded via visitor message

You can legally drive or keep your vehicle on the road whilst displaying your old tax disc for up to 5 working days

But get it renewed ofc :)

Yeah but only if you are waiting for another disc to come through I thought?

PhoenixSaxo 30th September 2009 23:28

Not sure :P

littleracer 30th September 2009 23:29

Karl 1st October 2009 13:48

go to the postoffice and buy tax.
if not, walk.

LeeM 1st October 2009 19:51

its very specific on the dvla website.

you can drive without a valid taxdisk for 5 days once your current tax has expired. however, these must be the first 5 days of the month and you must have ordered a tax disc online BEFORE your current disc expired.
if you havent bought it online you get 0 days grace

non.

the idea is you get 5 days after your tax disc has expired. so long you have already purchased a tax disc online and are awaiting for it to arrive in the post :).

they say all this crap, but when i brought my car it was NOT declared sorn by either myslef or previous owner.

Then it was kept in my garage for 3 months still without telling them a word and they never once contacted me or sent me a letter.

scholesyy 1st October 2009 21:11

lol theres hope for him yet then. i think failure to display ur tax disc is something like a £200 fine!
