Rng Gear worn VTR ( V reg )

I recently got a 2000 model year vtr. The car has a problem when starting sometimes it makes a screeching noise and wont start, i originally thought it was the starter motor at fault but on removing the starter i saw that the ring gear was chewed up pretty bad. I understand that to replace the ring gear it has to be heated up as it is interference fit. I want to attempt this job myself as i am a apprentice mechanic but my space is limited in my garage at home.

How difficult isit to remove the gearbox ?
Would it be worth changing the flywheel with the ring gear on rather than heating things up?
Worth changing cluthch aswell ?
Also on startup the you can hear a bearing type noise from the gearbox could this be the release bearing ( the noise does'nt go when the clutch pedal is depresed )

i am away with work next week but
PLEASE HELP IT IS STESSING ME OUT !!!!!!!

Youre probably best to source another flywheel. THey sell for around £20 ive seen. Try gmc.

Bearing noise is there if the gearbox is spinnning or not? ie clutch in and out?
