Are these legal?

Im have never been a fan of these but I saw a Saxo on the way to work with them on and it actually looked really nice. Just wondering about anything that would cause trouble with them as i might try them in my spare lights.

sax-dan 5th February 2010 09:22

yes these are legal, as they come of audi R8's as standard. dont know anything else about them though.

I can imagine them being cheap and unreliable tbh :P Was just curious as you can never be too carefull such as tinted your lights can void your e-mark etc.

sax-dan 5th February 2010 09:27

yeh but they void them because they dont have enough reflection in them when tinted. i have seen a vts near mine with them audi lights fitted and it doesnt look bad, hes had them on for a few years now dont think he has had any problems! just take a risk lol!

sminotVTR 5th February 2010 09:41

i see a lot on other cars (other than audi's) that has the odd LED gone

Ashleyp 5th February 2010 09:48

They look about as good as lexus lights

This.
Unless they come as standard on a car, they look crap.

Itz_Jamez 5th February 2010 10:22

Ill prob just get some super bright white bulbs instead :P

B3X_VTR86 5th February 2010 10:25

These are legal, I used work in car spares shop and sold them there, They look mint if fitted with ice white bulbs. Otherwise they look gash when you have your headlights on coz these are pure white n make ur headlight bulbs look yellow!

Saamuell 5th February 2010 11:13

James, please just no. Audi lights belong on Audis

Gareth 5th February 2010 11:31

There are legal mate. But don't really know if there able to be fitted onto a Saxo.

On a down side

If one or more bulbs go, you have to buy a full set again , its not like you can buy one seperate bulb (N)

you may risk people not seeing you have your front indicator on either..., audi's running lights dip when the indicator is activated :y:

could you not run some sort of dip-dim relay yourself?
Please dont do it, becoming the new lexus lights lol

mtpagey 5th February 2010 14:09

possibly if you had a little know-how/time :y:

saw an audi come round a corner of a junction one time (it was indicating) and was mocking it for being brand new yet one of the running lights was dull already :homme: then of course the car straightened up, indicator cut out, light brightened up and off it roared

AXracing 6th February 2010 00:11

No they are not legal as such in that you cant use them as one of your required lights. They are also nothing like what is fitted to a Audi.

But assuming you fit then as per legal requirements you could potentially fit them as a extra light but the laws governing such lights is not that simple and if the police dont like what you have done there is not much you can do about it.
