106 gti Loom to Vtr Loom
hi all.
i have got a 1997 106 gti engine to fit into my 1998 saxo vtr. i have a full spare loom, and a full 106 gti loom. the gti loom has 2 chassis plugs, but the vtr only has the one single plug? so im asking which wires do i chop? has anybody got a guide. id like to know all the steps. im aware a vts loom would fit.. but i havent got the funds to purchase one at the moment and want it in for FCS! much appreciated... thanks |
forgot to mention, both engines have a single plug ecu

it can be done but involves joining your multi plug from your vtr loom to yor gti loom! ( so you have the gti loom with the plug that fits your car )I am putting a gti 16v in my vtr also and theres not much info on here . you have to identify each wire on both looms and mark them up
get a multi meter put it on sound/buzz put one probe in a sensor and then the other probe on your multi plug touching the pins when it sounds you can identify that cabe goes to that sensor and mark it up once you have identified all your cables on both looms and all clearly marked up chop your multi plugs off and join the wires ie - oil temp sens to oil temp sens soldering and heat shrink is a must ! Conection block just wont hack it ! Hope this helps amd makes sence was rammberling abit ! Yea most people do just buy a vts loom but im doing mine on a budget and am confident on this method good look |
i did the exact same i had a vtr with gti loom, just bought a vts loom in the end as it was much easier and safer to swap over knowing it wasnt going to go wrong....

lol yea if you dont get your conections rite then its bad times ! Im a electrician so i like to think itll be easy ,( we will see lol ) but atlest the loom already made up and your puting the rite multi plug on the end! As far as i know ax and s1 rallye owners puting 16v in dont have a choice but to splice : )

I'm relatively ok with electrics and i just could not be bothered, the pins look like an absolute cunt to swap...
