205 gti wheels
 

wasn't really sure which section to put this in so sorry if it is wrong.:geek:

basically, i want to know what the difference between speedline 205 wheels and non speedline, smr? not sure what they're called.

they look identical except for the 'speedline' stamp.

what is the weight of both?
and what is the value of 4 in decent condition with decent tyres? (speedline and non speedline)

smr are slightly heavier and not made in italy
smr /france/belgium
speedline /italy
other than that they are the same

do you have any ideas on the weights of the two?

I'll see if I can find scales big enough to weigh mine.

Never felt a speedline, but i'm sure my SMR's feel lighter than my VTR's despite being an inch bigger?

Maybe its my imagination but the SMR's definately feel easier when carrying/fitting them?

So guess the speedlines would be even better? That said i don't know how big the weight difference is...

400g difference per wheel iirc but can't remember the actual weights of the 2

look 2 pay around £100 for a half tidy set but i will warn u now that if ur car is lowerd more than 30mm then u will have 2 use 45 profile tyres coz they rub like hell if you dont i know from experiance bud

I had the total opposite experience.

I thought the smr's were stupidly heavy

i fitted a set off 205 wheels to a friends car...2 wheels where SMR and the other 2 speelines. i couldnt tell the diffrence until i read the stamping lol. but i suppose you aint gonna notice weight unlesss you actually weigh it :S

if its heavier than go for the lighter one lighter the better then get some real nice expensive tyres for real nice grip

ive used smr's on a mates gti and to me they feel noticeably lighter then the vtr wheels i removed, vtr rims weigh alot though lmao

and vts wheels are considerably heavier than vtr wheels aren't they?

does any one have a set of 205 gti wheels foe sale or swap for powder coated white vts wheels

I noticed the weight difference between the two 1.9 rims whilst fitting them (Speedline's and SMR's) and the speedlines are definately lighter than SMR's. VTR rims are lighter than both the 1.9 wheels. Noticable when picking them up, accelerating and braking.
