Transmech clutches lolololol

fitted a clutch for a customer last week, sadly he supplied us with a Transmech unit rather then listen to us and pay the extra 30 quid for a Valeo. Well, its been back today having cover 120 miles complaining of clutch vibration, took the box out and find that 50% of the friction material in the bottom of the bellhousing. Moral of the story.... don't buy the cheapest,it'll cost you in the long run!!

sexy_gt 18th November 2010 16:30

i only fit valeo regardless!

saxo-parts 18th November 2010 16:36

so do we if customer wants a warranty, if they choose to have their own parts fitted its there lookout if they want ignore advice based on 20 years of experience dealing with dodgy after market tat!

Ciarannn 18th November 2010 16:37

cant he get a refund seeing as its been so crap ?

saxo-parts 18th November 2010 16:38

he'll get a refund but will they cover his labour??? i know how robbing outfits like Transmech squirm and wriggle!

Bedford126 18th November 2010 16:44

lol i remember a bloke last week saying on here that Transmech are now made by valeo. cheap at half the price lol

SAM-S44MDS- 18th November 2010 16:55

Funny you should post this because ive just told Mike not to use one of these, and to go Valeo lol.

So ive PM'd him this link as proof :A: lol

Alanapone 18th November 2010 17:00

I was JUST going to order one of these from EuroParts!!!!!!!!!!! NOT ANYMORE!

saxo-parts 18th November 2010 17:12

As we advise everyone, fit Valeo once!! If you choose to save a few quid,be prepared to have the box in and out that many times you'll wish it was bolted up with wing nuts!

blackie_2k5 18th November 2010 17:51

never heard of these lol,i use valeo or techniclutch, ppl winge about techniclutch but ive fitted over 20 and had never had any issues, including cars that get raked allover or used on track, only issue ive ever had was a release bearing, manufacturing fault and they offered to cover labour costs if provided with a receipt from a garage, i couldnt provide this as i dont have a business, was a favour to a mate

saxdazza 18th November 2010 17:57

must have been a dodgy one ? ive got one in mine and its done 5k so far. driven hard sometimes too.

saxo-parts 18th November 2010 21:43

5k is bugger all though to be honest, spoke to several other garages round here who won't touch these cheap pieces of tat

Mochachino 18th November 2010 22:24

Fucking transmech lol, the amount of poeple that fit these and only last literally a day! As said, extra £30 and extra 30k miles probably more than that tbh!

If I was you Jason id be feeling quite smug that this reinforces your advice, and also quite pissed off the customer didnt take your advice. Shame on him tbh! Why scrimp on £30 lol extra £100 its cost him now on labour at least!

saxo-parts 18th November 2010 22:29

my heart sank when i saw his cheap clutch lying in the boot when he dropped the car off, seems some people just like paying naff all and expecting quality

Tufty 18th November 2010 22:52

i hate to laugh,,, but that is seriously funny! Its a lesson learnt though, cheap is not always best!

Sophia_Bush 18th November 2010 22:55

bloody hell proper shit that Jason

LeeM 19th November 2010 10:54

I used one once in my vts, it lasted about 20 miles

akuakabucy 19th November 2010 11:19

I have fitted one in my dads VTR about 2 months ago. Probably done about 600 miles on it though but been ok up to now. I looked at all the reviews on the internet and in fairness I dont think I saw a good one. The fella at Euro car parts seems to think they are good and you only hear of the bad reviews on the internet but I could feel the quality difference between the Transmech and the old Valeo. But with a 3 year warranty and for £50 I thought worth a try. On my VTS though I would only fit quality, I fitted a LUK on that not long ago and has been perfect. My dads is only a daily driver to work and back so fingers crossed it will be ok :-)
