106 quicksilver > gti
hello,,,
Ive got a 106 quicksilver on a 2000 w reg i want a 106 gti engine in it. I need to kno what sort of stuff will i need to do a successful conversion at my bosses garage. 1. obviously the engine 2. can i use my quicksilver gearbox? 3. wiring? 4. driveshafts? 5. ecu if anyone has done a conversion i would be grateful for any useful info cheers |

Do you realise the engine bay in a 106 is very similar to an engine bay in a saxo? Also most of 106oc don't even have basic english reading skills. Maz, its been covered a million and one times on here about engine conversions. Get an engine from the same reg and its pretty much straight forward swap. And yes you can use the quicksilver box, but i would recommend the 106gti one over it. As if i remember right, could be wrong but i doubt it as its impossible for me to ever be wrong, the 106 quicksilver has the same gearbox as the saxo furio which is quite long (similar to the vtr box), a gti box will be better for acceleration. You'll definately need an unlocked 106gti ECU. Depending on the year of the engine you may need wiring and sensors. But like i said, have a search its been covered a billion times. |

do a bit of reading but in jist all you need is engine complete unlocked ecu and if you dont want to plumb in the fuel return is a single line fuel rail off a jp4 with j4 injectors

A very rough run down this is based on if the car is single plug and I am assuming the conversion wants to be done as cheap as possible with least amount of swapped parts. You will need
J4 engine complete with inlet tb injectors etc JP4 fuel rail (single inlet like the quiksilver) Unlocked J4 ecu (see ryanmt as paul has mentioned) obviously you will have all the usual service items on top which I would do anyway and if budget stretches do the cambelt whilst it is out peace of mind n all. Also see if the J4 engine comes with a clutch&flywheel as you will need a 200mm setup if it has nought can use the 180mm setup but won't last very long. All it will be a case of is drop engine in use existing box if wanting to remove imob box before starting car plug ecu in pretty much job done, 16v ecu will work fine on existing quiksilver loom as ecu plugs are the same. |
