best brake conversion?

Hi guys wondering on what would be the best brake conversion? ive tried looking but i couldnt find anything? Thanks Lee

Ciarannn 18th December 2010 16:17

266mm 206gti conversion or 283mm from 306 Gti6

rorz_vts 18th December 2010 16:20

i really like the hi-spec 4pot conversion

mark1311 18th December 2010 16:49

the best brake conversion would be either hi-specs or brembos off a 406 both 4pots. and will be alot better then 266mm 206gti conversion or 283mm from 306 Gti6 anyday...

for a road going car id advise the 306hdi set up. 266mm discs. no need to change the master cylinder.

they give more bite than standard VTR/S brakes and are cheaper than the 280gti brakes.

so all i will need for this will be calipers, disc's and brake pads? Cheers Lee

I run 406 brembo 4-pots, with ebc yellow stuff pads. You can't breath properly whilst I'm braking hard. Can't say anything else on the subject tbh. ;)

dannygti 18th December 2010 22:38

alcon 4 pots with performance friction fully floating discs and carbon metallic 01 compound pads would be my ideal choice....

ill stick with hi-spec 4 pots with carbonne lorraine rc6 pads and 2 piece discs for now.

Tarox 6-pots for me if we're living in a dream world!

Yeah but you actually USE your car - mines' just to compensate for a small cock :p

In real terms, I'll be fine with my current setup - all I really ask of it is a few track days a year, and stopping from 160+mph runs. I don't know much about anything above what I've had/got - obviously you do actually use your car with aggression so I'll take your word on whats good over my limited knowledge !

i will say we BOTH dont use them enough for what we should be using them for but hopefully that can change next year.

the setup i mentioned is what i would say to be the best setup possible on these cars.. you wouldnt need anything else...

my setup is about the best ive ever felt.. ive never once thought,,, oh i need a bit more braking power here. i think you would be able to lock the brakes at 150mph no problem if you wanted to.

but for road use the 266/283 combo is pretty darn good so long as you get good quality discs and pads.

im in same senario, mite go for the 306 set up

correct.

the brakes the other lads are talking about are all good but wasted on the average saxo.

not only are the discs and pads cheap to replace on the 266 but a good used set up can be picked up for around £80.

ReadieeVTS 19th December 2010 12:33

Thanks alot mate :y: its going to be used on the track aswell but will be more of a road going car then anything. :)

JRC1 19th December 2010 13:52

I use 285mm Hi-Spec 4 pots. Can't fault them tbh. :y:

ive used 266 on my track car with omp and ds2500 pads. i have done so for the last 4 years. the ds lasted x2 track days. the omp last 4-5 of them. the brakes are good. just make sure the sliders and pistons are free and you will be laughing.

i am upgrading to hispecs. my vts is full on track and i demand the best out of it.
