Kids

Right just been havin an argument with the girlfriend, about the correct way to bring up children, don't know why cause we only 19 and have only been goin out 2 months sort of, but anyway

she was saying that they should be spoiled and have loads of things bought for them and get what ever they wanted.

But then i was sayin nah no way, if you did that then when the kids get to a real age where entering the real world becomes more of a reality that just words, then they will have no respect, for anythin, they should only get treats every now and then like birthdays and xmas and after exams if they do well.

One thing she said is i would buy them a car, and i said yeah id put some money to it as a reward, cause if i just bought them a car then they would just take it for granted and not look after it thinkin i would buy another if anythin happened :panic::panic:

Anyway what do you guys reckon is the best way to bring up the next generation?

deffo same as ur opinion.... spoiling kids doesnt set them up for the real world... then they will never learn to respect anything

Hit them till they learn.

Also, hit her.

I'm aiming to have kids as soon as I get married, which will hopefully be this year. Ideally, the best way to raise them imo of course, is to give them a firm set of solid principles on which they can always fall back on to guide them along in life. One of them being the principle of hard work, as people who are spoilt all their lives never turn out "good" if i'm honest.

exactly my opinion.

+1 ... people who get given everything in life, sit on their asses n expect it just to keep on coming forever

oooohhh proper yellow.

I got a 3year old son i make sure he says please and thankyou and he only gets rewards for being good i think spoiling kids sets them up wrong for life

I said to her fine we will have 2 you can raise your one your way and ill raise the other mine and we will see which one turns out better :y:

she went in a mood and hasnt spoke to me since haha

(i doubt i will have kids with her cause she does my nut in most of the time haha)

craig180 2nd January 2011 19:46

The simple answer is you will never know until you have kids.

I thought I knew how I should bring up mine until they came along. I'd say my day job is a 9/10 on the stressometer but bringing up kids makes my job look like a stroll in the park

There's a lass I know that's exactly the same, has no respect for other peoples cars, she puts muddy feet on seats the lot, and when we have a go she thinks it just gets fixed miraculously for no money, she has no idea of the running costs of cars and expects her mum to buy her a really fast first car, thinking a £10 of petrol gets you everywhere and that insurance is dirty cheap.

chris_ph2 2nd January 2011 19:49

they need to learn to appreciate things and the value of money. best way is if they have to earn their posessions through hard work or whatever

she isnt like that but thats how her kids will turn out if she brings them up the way she wants too haha, shes actually quite down to earth and her head is very screwed on shes more mature than me by a long way too, so god knows why she wants her kids to be any different :wall:

My misses left me.. Said I'm too violent :homme:

Brettles1986 3rd January 2011 00:26

I got a 4 year old, spoiling them is not a problem aslong as they are brought up to respect things and people, ruining them however is not good and with regards to hitting children...... definately a no go area

Aly 3rd January 2011 00:31

Just tell your girlfriend to shut the fuck up get in the kitchen and make you a cup of tea as God intended.
